Field Operator Position Overview
Your job is continuity. You walk your area, watch the equipment, log parameters and flag anything unusual before it becomes a problem. You help test and recommission plant after maintenance outages, follow every emergency procedure for your equipment and keep your area tidy. At the Jebel Ali site, the Operator Turbine & Boiler and Assistant Operator roles focus on gas turbines, steam turbines, associated plant equipment and related utilities.
Key Responsibilities
What You Will Do Day to Day
- Operate plant and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Carry out instructions promptly and accurately.
- Record routine parameter readings and report deviations.
- Tell the supervisor or control room about abnormalities or equipment problems.
- Keep standby equipment ready for emergencies.
- Help with testing and recommissioning after maintenance outages.
- Follow safe working practices and report hazards.
- Maintain good housekeeping and know all emergency procedures.
- Take part in on-the-job training and keep building competency.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Higher secondary school certificate.
- 4 years of experience in a power station.
- 2 years as a Desalination Operator (PG7) or equivalent experience in a similar industry.
- Competent in all areas except DCR operation.
- Intermediate English to write shift reports.
- Basic numeracy: percentages, unit conversion and rate calculations.
- Able to read single line diagrams.
- IT, problem-solving, planning and organising skills.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
