Position Overview – Food Safety Auditor
The Food Safety Auditor will play a crucial role in ensuring food safety standards are maintained across all operational areas. This position requires a detail-oriented professional with strong knowledge of food safety regulations, HACCP principles, ISO 22000 standards, and practical experience in the restaurant or hospitality industry. You will work closely with production teams, management, and regulatory agencies to ensure complete compliance with food safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities & Job Duties
- Food Safety Inspections: Conduct regular, systematic inspections of food production areas, kitchens, storage facilities, and food handling zones to ensure strict compliance with local and international food safety regulations and standards
- Policy Development and Implementation: Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive food safety policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and safety protocols aligned with HACCP, ISO 22000, and regulatory requirements
- Food Handling Monitoring: Monitor and thoroughly document all food handling practices, preparation methods, storage procedures, and hygiene protocols to ensure consistent adherence to established safety standards and best practices
- Sample Collection and Analysis: Collect food samples, environmental swabs, and water samples for microbiological testing (bacteria, pathogens, molds) and chemical analysis (contaminants, additives, allergens) to verify food safety
- Staff Training and Education: Assist in developing and delivering comprehensive training programs on food safety practices, hygiene protocols, HACCP principles, and regulatory compliance for all staff members across departments
- Incident Investigation: Investigate food safety incidents, customer complaints, contamination events, and non-compliance issues; prepare detailed reports with root cause analysis and corrective action recommendations
- Documentation and Record Keeping: Maintain accurate, organized records of all inspections, internal audits, corrective actions, training sessions, and compliance documentation for regulatory reviews and certification audits
- Regulatory Reporting Support: Support the Food Safety team in preparing comprehensive reports, compliance documentation, and audit materials for regulatory agencies, health authorities, and certification bodies
- Continuous Learning: Stay current with evolving food safety regulations, industry best practices, emerging technologies, and regulatory updates through professional development and industry networks
- HACCP System Management: Assist in implementing and maintaining HACCP systems including hazard analysis, critical control point monitoring, verification activities, and record-keeping procedures
Required Qualifications & Education
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Environmental Health, Public Health, Nutrition, Microbiology, or closely related field from accredited university
- Professional Experience: Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in food safety roles, quality assurance, or auditing positions, preferably within restaurant operations, hotel kitchens, catering services, or hospitality industry environments
- Food Safety Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of food safety regulations, standards, and frameworks including HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points), ISO 22000 Food Safety Management Systems, GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), and local regulatory requirements
- Industry Experience: Proven track record in restaurant, hospitality, food service, hotel food operations, or food manufacturing sectors with demonstrated food safety compliance achievements
- Certification (Highly Desirable): HACCP Level 2 certification, ISO 22000 Internal Auditor training, Food Safety Manager certification, or equivalent professional credentials
