Position Overview

This Junior Accountant role at a leading Abu Dhabi real estate developer is responsible for the complete cycle of vendor invoice processing, payment execution, and bank reconciliation. The position ensures strict compliance with FTA regulations for VAT returns and tax invoices, manages petty cash, assists in audit preparations, handles payroll booking, and maintains accurate and transparent financial records across all Abu Dhabi companies.

 Key Responsibilities

Invoice Processing & Validation

  • Process tax invoices from suppliers, ensuring accurate and timely booking into the accounting system
  • Verify all invoice details for accuracy, including mathematical correctness and proper supporting documentation
  • Conduct cross-checks to ensure every invoice meets minimum content requirements as mandated by FTA regulations
  • Reconcile contractor schedules with the general ledger and confirm invoices are accompanied by approved payment requests

Payment Execution & Bank Reconciliation

  • Forward processed invoices to the Treasury Payable department for payment scheduling
  • Verify all issued payments — cheques, wire transfers, and online payments — are booked under correct account heads
  • Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations for all Abu Dhabi companies
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies between bank statements and general ledger accounts promptly

VAT Compliance & FTA Reporting

  • Calculate Input and Output VAT on all transactions, verifying correct rates and amounts as per FTA regulations
  • Prepare comprehensive VAT summaries, including Input and Output VAT reports, and reconcile with the general ledger
  • Forward completed VAT summaries to the Chief Accountant and Accounts Manager for final review and filing
  • Maintain a systematic archive of all VAT invoices and related documents to support audits and legal compliance

Customer Invoicing & Petty Cash Management

  • Issue tax invoices to clients for Output VAT upon receipt of collection for retail units, admin fees, and other charges
  • Process payment requests for advance payments against petty expenses and reconcile petty cash ledgers regularly
  • Follow up with HR to resolve any missing or disputed petty cash bills

Payroll Processing & Audit Support

  • Book monthly accruals for staff salaries across all relevant companies and reconcile the salaries general ledger regularly
  • Assist the team in preparing audit samples for internal and external audits
  • Reconcile intercompany balances and examine financial records to evaluate internal controls

Qualifications & Requirements

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

Experience Requirements

  • At least 2–3 years of experience in accounts receivable or a similar accounting role
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial regulations, and accounts receivable processes

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in accounting software including QuickBooks, SAP, or Oracle
  • Strong command of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
  • Working knowledge of FTA regulations, VAT compliance, and UAE tax invoice requirements
