Position Overview
The Junior Scheduling Analyst at DHL Express in Bonn plays a meaningful role in keeping one of the world’s largest express air networks running smoothly, reliably, and on schedule. Reporting to the Director of Scheduling — Intercontinental Network, you will support the planning and governance of flight schedules, maintain the network block time database, monitor in-season schedule performance, liaise with airports and slot coordinators, and produce Power BI reports that drive real operational decisions. Key Responsibilities
Flight Schedule Planning & Coordination
- Support delivery of a feasible and reliable flight schedule through accurate, timely scheduling execution
- Contribute to seasonal, holiday, and ad hoc schedule delivery across the European and intercontinental air network
- Support implementation of schedule adjustments driven by demand changes and fleet developments
- Participate actively in seasonal IATA scheduling cycles and ongoing network schedule adjustments
Block Time Database & Performance Monitoring
- Maintain and continuously update the network block time database by aircraft type, operator, route, and season
- Ensure data accuracy and consistency across all scheduling systems and planning cycles
- Proactively monitor in-season block time performance, identify variances, and recommend corrective adjustments
- Ensure schedule data remains accurate and consistent across all internal and external systems at all times
Data Analysis, Power BI & Reporting
- Use Power BI reporting and analytical tools to support scheduling, network planning, and performance monitoring
- Produce analyses and reports on schedule performance, block time accuracy, slot utilization, and operational trends
- Provide regular reporting to support management and operational decision-making processes
- Support continuous improvement initiatives through data-driven insights and performance analysis
Stakeholder Communication & Logistics Coordination
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders including airlines, hubs, airports, and slot coordinators
- Support timely communication of schedule updates to all relevant internal and external partners
- Distribute schedule information accurately and on time to internal and external operational partners
- Support capacity and contingency planning activities as required by the scheduling team
Traffic Rights & Slot Compliance
- Support maintenance and integrity of traffic rights information within the scheduling system
- Ensure required operating permissions and restrictions are accurately reflected in all schedule plans
- Support slot compliance activities to maintain DHL’s network performance and airport access rights
- Proactively identify deviations that could impact schedule quality, reliability, or network performance
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Degree in aviation, logistics, transportation, supply chain, or a closely related academic field
- Initial professional experience or a relevant internship in logistics, aviation, or operations is preferred
Technical Skills
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and the full Microsoft Office Suite
- Familiarity with Power BI dashboards, report maintenance, and data visualization principles
- Experience working with large operational datasets and producing performance reports
- Exposure to scheduling tools such as NetLine is a beneficial advantage
Industry Knowledge & Languages
- Basic understanding of airline or air cargo operations is required for this role
- Understanding of airport slot coordination processes and traffic rights requirements is beneficial
- Fluent English is required; additional European or international languages are a clear plus
