This Lab Technician job in Sharjah, UAE is a technically focused, compliance-driven role within a busy wheat, flour, and feed production environment. Key Responsibilities
Quality Inspection & Product Analysis
- Perform accurate quality inspection and analysis of all raw materials, semi-finished products, and finished goods in accordance with established laboratory methods and quality plans
- Conduct thorough incoming packaging material inspections to verify compliance with defined quality and safety specifications before materials enter the production process
- Perform online process inspections of both finished and semi-finished products during active production runs to detect and flag quality deviations in real time
- Maintain comprehensive feed analysis reports, ensuring all results are clearly recorded, reviewed, and communicated to supervisors and management within defined timeframes
GMP, Standards & Documentation Compliance
- Monitor and maintain Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) across all laboratory and production interface areas throughout each working shift
- Maintain all documentation required by ISO 17025, HACCP, HALAL, and FSSC standards — ensuring records are accurate, current, and audit-ready at all times
- Adhere strictly to the quality plan and complete all analyses according to the established schedule — ensuring KPI targets for analysis completion are consistently met
- Adhere to the shop floor inspection plan and complete all inspections as per the defined plan, maintaining full traceability of results across all product categories
Equipment Use, Calibration & Maintenance
- Operate, use, and maintain all laboratory equipment responsibly — including performing scheduled calibrations, supporting minor repairs, and maintaining accurate calibration and maintenance records
- Ensure laboratory instruments are always in proper working condition, reporting any malfunctions or performance deviations to the supervisor without delay
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of all laboratory work areas at all times — ensuring a safe, professional, and productive laboratory environment
- Ensure the safe handling, storage, and management of raw materials and finished goods in strict accordance with company safety rules and established procedures
Workplace Safety & Risk Management
- Actively assist supervisors and managers in identifying potential hazards in the laboratory and production workplace environment
- Participate constructively in the assessment of risks associated with identified workplace hazards as part of the company’s formal risk management program
- Be fully aware of and consistently follow all adopted risk management procedures when undertaking laboratory tasks, projects, and production-related activities
- Report any incidents, accidents, or near misses to supervisors promptly and without undue delay, supporting a strong occupational health and safety culture throughout the facility
- Never interfere with or misuse any device or equipment that has been provided as part of a risk control measure — and support colleagues in doing the same
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Microbiology, or a closely related scientific discipline
- Additional certifications in food safety, laboratory quality management, or HACCP principles are a strong advantage
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on work experience in a relevant industry — specifically in food production, feed manufacturing, flour milling, or a chemical laboratory environment
- Demonstrated practical experience in quality inspection, product analysis, GMP monitoring, and laboratory documentation within a regulated manufacturing setting
Technical Knowledge
- Strong working knowledge of ISO 17025 laboratory quality management requirements, HACCP principles, HALAL compliance, and FSSC food safety standards
- Practical experience operating and maintaining laboratory instruments with the ability to perform calibrations and maintain accurate equipment records
- Familiarity with feed analysis methodologies and wheat or flour quality parameters used in milling and feed production environments
