Position Overview

This Mechanical Engineer role at Core in Abu Dhabi plans, coordinates, and delivers L2–L5 commissioning activities for assigned systems and areas within data centre and critical infrastructure projects. The role balances technical delivery, documentation management, and stakeholder coordination — covering installation verification (L2), individual element commissioning (L3), system functional testing (L4), and integrated systems testing (L5) — with authority to approve commissioning stage progressions and recommend acceptance or rejection of test results within defined scope.

Key Responsibilities

L2 — Installation Verification

  • Lead verification of installation readiness for assigned systems and areas
  • Review and approve installation checklists, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), and Method Statements
  • Ensure all installations meet commissioning entry criteria before progression to L3

L3 — Individual Element Commissioning

  • Plan and witness commissioning of individual items of plant and equipment
  • Verify correct operation, settings, controls, and protections for each commissioned element
  • Confirm stability of individual items before progression to system-level testing

L4 — System Functional Testing

  • Coordinate and witness system functional tests across assigned mechanical systems
  • Verify sequences of operation and system responses against design intent
  • Confirm compliance with design intent and operational requirements before L5

L5 — Integrated Systems Testing

  • Support Integrated Systems Testing (IST) activities across assigned facility systems
  • Validate resilience and recovery outcomes for assigned mechanical systems
  • Assist in client demonstrations and formal acceptance activities

Authority, Documentation & Performance

  • Approve progression between commissioning stages within defined scope
  • Recommend acceptance or rejection of test results based on technical evidence
  • Ensure technical accuracy, robustness of testing, timely issue resolution, and quality and completeness of all documentation

Qualifications & Requirements

Experience Requirements

  • 5–8 years of commissioning experience in mission-critical or complex facilities
  • Proven data centre or critical infrastructure exposure is a MUST for this role

Technical Skills

  • Strong technical documentation and coordination skills across ITPs, checklists, method statements, and test reports
  • Ability to lead and witness L2–L5 commissioning activities across mechanical systems in data centre environments
  • Capability to verify sequences of operation, controls, and protection settings for individual plant items and integrated systems
