Position Overview

The Public Health & Fire Engineer at AESG Dubai is a technically skilled and consultancy-focused role responsible for designing and delivering public health systems for complex buildings and infrastructure projects across the UAE. You will develop systems covering water supply, drainage, sanitation, rainwater harvesting, and waste management — ensuring full compliance with local building regulations, environmental standards, and sustainability certification requirements including LEED, BREEAM, and Estidama.

This role combines design engineering, project coordination, regulatory compliance, and sustainability integration — with the expectation that you can work independently on complex tasks and deliver high-quality engineering outputs across multidisciplinary project teams that include architects, mechanical engineers, contractors, and specialist consultants. AESG’s reputation for specialist consultancy excellence means this is a role where technical precision, innovative thinking, and sustainable design genuinely matter — and where your engineering work contributes directly to some of the most complex and prestigious building projects in the Middle East.

Why This Role Matters: Public health engineering is not a background discipline — it is the system that makes buildings safe, habitable, and sustainable for the people who use them. Every water supply network you design, every drainage system you engineer, and every greywater recycling solution you integrate directly affects the health, safety, and environmental performance of the buildings AESG delivers. In a region with some of the world’s highest sustainability ambitions — including UAE Net Zero 2050 — a specialist PH Engineer who can integrate water efficiency, green building certification, and regulatory compliance seamlessly is exactly the professional the industry needs most.

Key Responsibilities

Public Health System Design & Development

  • Design public health systems for water supply, drainage, rainwater harvesting, and waste management — developing engineering solutions for buildings and infrastructure projects ranging from high-rise commercial towers and residential developments to hospitals and complex mixed-use facilities in the UAE
  • Develop detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and calculations using AutoCAD, Revit, and hydraulic modelling software — producing technically accurate, professionally formatted design documentation that meets the submission standards required by UAE authorities and project consultants
  • Ensure all designs comply with relevant standards, codes, and environmental sustainability requirements — including BS EN standards, CIBSE guidance, UAE local building regulations, and applicable green building certification frameworks such as LEED, BREEAM, and Estidama
  • Incorporate sustainable public health solutions — including water-saving technologies, greywater recycling systems, rainwater harvesting, and energy-efficient MEP integration — that improve system environmental performance and contribute to the sustainability certification targets of each project

Project Coordination & Multidisciplinary Collaboration

  • Collaborate closely with architects, mechanical engineers, structural engineers, and other project stakeholders — integrating public health systems seamlessly into overall project designs and ensuring that PH engineering requirements are considered from the earliest design stages
  • Coordinate with contractors during the construction phase — providing technical guidance on the correct installation and commissioning of public health systems, reviewing contractor submittals, responding to RFIs, and conducting site inspections to ensure compliance with approved designs
  • Work across multiple concurrent projects — managing workload priorities, coordinating design inputs from multiple disciplines, and ensuring that all public health engineering deliverables are produced to the required quality standard and within project programme deadlines
  • Support business development activities related to public health engineering consultancy services — contributing technical knowledge and project experience to proposals, capability presentations, and client engagement activities that help AESG win and retain specialist consultancy mandates

Regulatory Compliance & Technical Documentation

  • Ensure all PH engineering designs and installations comply with local building codes, health and safety regulations, and environmental standards — maintaining current knowledge of applicable UAE authority requirements and proactively identifying and resolving compliance risks during the design process
  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports and documentation for regulatory approvals and inspections — producing the complete set of supporting documents required by Dubai Municipality, Abu Dhabi authorities, and other relevant regulatory bodies for public health system approval and commissioning sign-off
  • Conduct site inspections and provide technical recommendations — visiting project sites during installation and commissioning phases to verify that public health systems are being installed in compliance with approved drawings and specifications, and to identify and resolve any installation quality or compliance issues

Sustainability Integration & Innovation

  • Evaluate and implement innovative water-efficiency and sustainability technologies — applying knowledge of greywater recycling, rainwater harvesting, low-flow fixture specification, and water monitoring systems to enhance the environmental performance of building water services beyond minimum compliance requirements
  • Provide technical expertise and problem-solving support throughout the design, installation, and maintenance phases — acting as the specialist PH engineering authority within project teams and providing practical, compliant solutions to technical challenges as they arise
  • Contribute to AESG’s commitment to sustainability and green building innovation — supporting LEED, BREEAM, and Estidama certification processes from the public health systems perspective, and identifying opportunities to integrate emerging sustainable technologies into PH engineering design

Qualifications & Requirements

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field — from a recognised university; candidates with a strong mechanical engineering background and direct public health systems experience will be given priority consideration
  • Master’s degree in Public Health Engineering is a significant advantage — demonstrating advanced academic preparation for the specialist discipline that AESG’s consultancy work demands
  • Certification in green building systems or sustainable design (LEED AP, BREEAM AP) is a strong additional qualification — supporting effective contribution to AESG’s sustainability certification advisory services

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in public health engineering — with a demonstrable track record of delivering high-quality PH system designs and installations for commercial, residential, or institutional building projects
  • Experience designing systems for high-rise buildings, hospitals, or other complex facilities — demonstrating the ability to handle the engineering complexity, coordination requirements, and regulatory demands of large-scale, mixed-use, or specialist building types
  • Familiarity with hydraulic modelling and analysis software — enabling accurate sizing, flow analysis, and pressure calculation for complex water supply and drainage systems across buildings with demanding performance requirements

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or other design software — able to produce detailed engineering drawings and 3D MEP models independently to the standard required for UAE authority submission and construction
  • Strong knowledge of BS EN, CIBSE, and local UAE regulatory standards — with direct application experience in PH engineering design and the ability to navigate the applicable standards framework independently for each project
  • Familiarity with sustainability frameworks including LEED, BREEAM, and Estidama — able to design public health systems that contribute to green building certification targets and support AESG’s specialist sustainability advisory services
