You will supervise and guide a team of Quality and Food Safety Inspectors, oversee the execution and calibration of audits across all store operations, ensure compliance with HACCP, ISO 22000, and local food safety regulations, act as the regulatory inspection focal point, investigate complaints and food safety incidents, manage product recalls, conduct data analysis and KPI reporting, and lead food safety training programmes. The role requires a detail-oriented, analytically capable, and operationally experienced food safety leader with 5–8 years of QA/QC experience, NEBOSH IGC certification, and a degree in Food Technology or Microbiology — combined with the leadership skills to develop an inspector team and drive a genuine food safety culture across multiple retail store locations.
Why This Role Matters: As Quality & Food Safety Supervisor at Grandiose Supermarket in Dubai — leading a multi-store inspector team with HACCP, ISO 22000, and NEBOSH expertise — you will protect the health and safety of thousands of Dubai consumers who trust Grandiose’s food quality and safety standards every day, lead a team of inspectors and build their capability through coaching, training, and performance development, apply your analytical skills to identify systemic food safety risks and drive data-driven continuous improvement across the supermarket network, serve as the company’s front-line representative with Dubai regulatory authorities on all food safety compliance matters, and advance your retail food safety supervisory career within one of Dubai’s most recognisable premium supermarket brands.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Inspector Supervision
- Supervise and guide a team of Quality and Food Safety Inspectors across multiple Grandiose supermarket locations — providing clear direction, consistent standards, and professional development support that builds the collective capability and performance of the inspection team
- Plan, allocate, and monitor food safety and quality inspection and audit schedules across the store network — ensuring full coverage of all store locations, all process stages, and all critical food safety control points within the defined inspection frequency required by the FSMS
- Review audit and inspection reports produced by the inspector team — checking for consistency, accuracy, completeness, and appropriate severity classification of findings, and providing detailed feedback that continuously raises the standard and reliability of inspection outputs
- Provide structured coaching, targeted training, and constructive performance feedback to inspectors — identifying individual skill gaps, developing improvement plans, and building a team that is capable of conducting audits with the level of technical rigour and professional consistency that Grandiose’s multi-store food safety programme requires
Multi-Store Quality & Food Safety Audits
- Oversee the planning and execution of food safety and quality audits across all Grandiose stores — covering receiving bay operations, cold and ambient storage compliance, fresh food preparation areas, hot food counters, food display conditions, and hygiene standards throughout the customer-facing and back-of-house environments
- Conduct periodic calibration audits alongside inspectors — verifying that inspector assessments are consistent, objective, and aligned with FSMS audit standards, and using calibration findings to adjust inspector training and to improve the reliability of audit scores across the network
- Review all audit and inspection findings — ensuring that non-conformities are accurately classified, clearly described, and supported by sufficient evidence — and ensuring that appropriate, proportionate CAPA are defined, assigned, tracked, and verified as effectively implemented across every store
- Drive continuous improvement in audit effectiveness — using trend analysis of audit data, calibration findings, and regulatory inspection outcomes to identify where audit procedures, checklists, or inspector competencies need development to better detect and prevent food safety risks
Regulatory & FSMS Compliance
- Ensure ongoing adherence to local Dubai and UAE food safety regulations, health and safety legislation, sustainability requirements, and all FSMS certification requirements applicable to Grandiose’s retail food operations — maintaining the company’s full compliance status across all stores at all times
- Act as the primary focal point for regulatory inspections by Dubai Municipality, Dubai Food Safety Department, and other relevant authorities — coordinating inspection preparation, accompanying inspectors during on-site visits, and managing the company’s response to any findings identified during regulatory assessments
- Review and approve written responses to regulatory authority inspection findings — ensuring responses are accurate, complete, professionally presented, and demonstrate a genuine commitment to corrective action that satisfies the regulatory authority’s requirements within stipulated timeframes
- Monitor changes in UAE and Dubai food safety regulations, FSMS certification standards, and industry best practices — proactively updating the company’s FSMS procedures, store operating procedures, and inspector training content to maintain continuous regulatory currency
Complaint, Incident & Product Recall Management
- Oversee the investigation of customer complaints related to food quality and food safety — ensuring each complaint is investigated thoroughly, root cause is correctly identified, CAPA are robust and verifiable, and the complainant receives a professional and timely response that reflects Grandiose’s commitment to food quality and customer satisfaction
- Lead or supervise the investigation of food safety incidents — including suspected contamination events, allergen mislabelling incidents, temperature excursion discoveries, and pest-related findings — ensuring rapid response, thorough documentation, and effective corrective action that prevents recurrence
- Monitor product recalls affecting Grandiose’s food product range — ensuring timely and complete product withdrawal from sale, accurate reconciliation of affected stock, effective communication to store teams, and full documentation of recall execution and closure in compliance with regulatory requirements
- Escalate critical food safety risks to the QHSE Manager promptly and clearly — providing the context, evidence, and recommended actions that enable swift, well-informed management decision-making on serious food safety risks or regulatory compliance issues
Data Analysis, KPI Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Analyse inspection, audit, complaint, non-compliance, and recall data systematically to identify trends, emerging risks, and systemic food safety weaknesses across the store network — producing weekly and monthly analytical reports for the QHSE Manager that translate raw data into clear, actionable insights
- Track and report on key performance indicators — including audit compliance scores, complaint volumes and resolution rates, CAPA closure rates, regulatory inspection outcomes, and recall effectiveness metrics — providing management with a clear, current view of food safety performance across the Grandiose network
- Apply structured root cause analysis tools — including fishbone diagrams, 5-Why analysis, and fault tree analysis — to food safety non-conformities, complaint clusters, and recurring inspection findings to identify and address the underlying systemic causes rather than just the surface symptoms
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives across Grandiose’s food safety and quality operations — proposing, piloting, and implementing procedural improvements, technology enhancements, and cultural interventions that measurably improve food safety performance, inspector team effectiveness, and compliance consistency across the supermarket network
Food Safety Training & Culture
- Design and lead food safety training programmes for Grandiose store teams — covering HACCP principles, personal hygiene requirements, allergen management, temperature monitoring, pest prevention, cleaning and disinfection procedures, and emergency response — ensuring every food handler across the network has the knowledge and skills to maintain safe food practices every day
- Build and sustain a strong, proactive food safety culture across all Grandiose store locations — championing the principle that food safety is every team member’s responsibility, and creating a culture where food safety concerns are reported promptly, corrective actions are taken seriously, and continuous improvement is genuinely valued
- Evaluate training effectiveness through post-training assessments, subsequent inspection performance, and compliance trend analysis — continuously improving training content and delivery methods to maximise the practical impact of food safety education on store team behaviours and food safety outcomes
Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Technology, Microbiology, Food Science, or an equivalent field from a recognised and accredited university — mandatory minimum educational qualification for this role
- Diploma in Food Safety or a closely related field — required in addition to the bachelor’s degree, demonstrating specific food safety technical training
- NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) in Occupational Health and Safety — a mandatory certification requirement for this Quality & Food Safety Supervisor role

- Expertise in audit management, CAPA development and closure, and regulatory compliance management — with experience serving as the company’s focal point for regulatory authority inspections
- Proficiency in food safety data analysis, KPI reporting, and performance tracking — with demonstrated ability to extract meaningful insights from inspection and complaint data and present them clearly to management
