We are seeking an experienced Quality Specialist (Quality Controller) responsible for checking quality of all incoming and outgoing materials and products as well as production procedures while being a firm advocate of quality standards in catering operations ensuring customers enjoy high-quality service for long-term success.

Role Overview

The Quality Specialist will oversee all aspects of quality control throughout the production cycle from purchasing to customer delivery. This critical role requires a trained eye for detail, reliability, commitment, and in-depth knowledge of quality standards to ensure products are made of flawless materials with well-functioning equipment.

You will conduct inspections, approve materials, monitor production processes, maintain quality records, train staff on food safety, and address customer complaints while ensuring compliance with Bahrain Municipality and Ministry of Health (MOH) regulations.

Main Responsibilities

As Quality Specialist in Bahrain, your comprehensive responsibilities include:

Production Cycle Inspection

  • Inspect procedures of entire production cycle from purchasing through customer delivery
  • Ensure all processes are efficient and comply with Food Safety and Quality standards
  • Verify adherence to HACCP principles throughout production operations
  • Monitor critical control points (CCPs) and document compliance

Incoming Materials Approval

  • Approve incoming materials by confirming specifications meet quality requirements
  • Conduct visual and measurement tests on received materials and ingredients
  • Reject and return unacceptable materials that don’t meet standards
  • Maintain supplier quality performance records and conduct vendor assessments

In-Process Production Quality Control

  • Approve in-process production by confirming required specifications are met
  • Conduct visual and measurement tests during production stages
  • Communicate required adjustments to concerned managers for corrective action
  • Monitor production workflow to identify quality issues proactively

Records & Metrics Management

  • Maintain comprehensive records of testing, inspections, and quality information
  • Track various metrics including number of defective products per day
  • Document kitchen inspection results and hygiene & sanitation inspection findings
  • Prepare quality reports and KPI dashboards for management review

Equipment Monitoring & Safety

  • Monitor use of equipment to ensure it is safe and well-maintained
  • Report any equipment that doesn’t meet quality or safety requirements
  • Conduct equipment calibration checks and maintain calibration records
  • Ensure proper functioning of quality testing machines and systems

Output Sampling & Testing

  • Select output samples using appropriate sampling methods
  • Check samples using various methods including measuring dimensions, testing functionality, comparing to specifications
  • Document test results and identify trends in product quality
  • Initiate corrective actions when samples fail to meet standards

Training & Awareness

  • Conduct staff awareness training sessions on food safety and quality standards
  • Educate kitchen staff on hygiene practices and sanitation procedures
  • Train employees on HACCP principles and critical control points
  • Develop training materials and presentations for quality education

Food Safety Management System

  • Support team to develop and implement comprehensive food safety and quality management system
  • Ensure compliance with Bahrain Municipality and MOH regulations
  • Maintain documentation for food safety certifications and audits
  • Stay updated on regulatory changes affecting catering industry

Customer Complaint Management

  • Address customer complaints by conducting thorough investigations
  • Prepare corrective action plans for non-conformities
  • Track complaint resolution and verify effectiveness of corrective measures
  • Implement preventive actions to avoid recurrence of quality issues

Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare and submit regular quality reports to line manager
  • Document all quality control activities systematically
  • Maintain organized records for internal and external audits
  • Use MS Office proficiently for documentation and reporting

Ideal Candidate Requirements

The ideal candidate for this quality specialist position must possess:

Professional Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of proven experience as Quality Specialist, Quality Controller, or any relevant role
  • Experience specifically in catering industry or hotel industry required
  • Track record of implementing food safety and quality management systems
  • Hands-on experience with quality inspections and testing procedures

Educational Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree from Food Background including:
  • Food Technology, Food Science, Food Engineering
  • Microbiology, Food Microbiology
  • Bio-Chemistry, Food Chemistry
  • OR related food science disciplines

Certifications

  • HACCP certified with Level 3 as minimum requirement (MANDATORY)
  • Valid HACCP certification from recognized training provider
  • Additional food safety certifications are advantageous

Technical Skills & Knowledge

  • Familiarity with quality testing machines and systems
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for reporting and documentation
  • Knowledge of Bahrain’s rules and regulations as per Municipality and Ministry of Health (MOH)
  • Understanding of catering industry quality standards and best practices

Language & Communication Skills

  • Strong verbal and written English language skills (REQUIRED)
