Position Overview
This Secondary Biology and Science Teacher role at the MBZ campus in Abu Dhabi is a full-time classroom position within a large, high-performing international school serving over 3,500 students from diverse national and cultural backgrounds. You will teach Biology and Science across secondary year groups within the American curriculum framework — from foundational science in the middle school years through to the American High School Diploma, with senior students also accessing IB Diploma and IGCSE/A-Level Biology pathways. Key Responsibilities
Biology and Science Lesson Delivery American Curriculum
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging, high-quality Biology and Science lessons across secondary and high school year groups in line with the American curriculum framework and school expectations
- Teach Biology content that builds strong scientific foundations — covering core life sciences topics including cell biology, genetics, ecology, human biology, evolution, and biochemistry at appropriate depth and rigor for each year group
- Integrate inquiry-based learning, critical thinking, and real-world application of biological concepts into all lessons — reflecting the school’s international teaching approach and pedagogical values
- Prepare students effectively for the American High School Diploma Biology requirements, ensuring all students develop the scientific knowledge, skills, and confidence to succeed in assessments
IB Diploma, IGCSE and A-Level Biology Teaching
- Deliver IB Diploma Biology teaching to senior cohorts where applicable — supporting students through the rigorous demands of the IB Biology Higher Level and Standard Level syllabi
- Teach IGCSE and/or A-Level Biology to eligible senior year students — providing expert guidance on examination technique, practical skills, and in-depth scientific understanding
- Support students in navigating multiple curriculum pathways simultaneously — offering clear, structured preparation for both internal school assessments and external examination board requirements
Student Assessment, Feedback and Academic Progress
- Assess student learning consistently through a range of formative and summative methods — providing detailed, constructive feedback that supports every student’s ongoing academic development in Biology
- Monitor individual student progress carefully, identifying students who require additional academic support, intervention, or extension challenge to reach their full potential
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of student attendance, performance, and assessment grades in line with school reporting systems and administrative requirements

Qualifications and Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biological Sciences, Science Education, or a closely related discipline — mandatory qualification for all applicants
- Recognized teaching qualification (QTS, PGCE, State Teaching License, or international equivalent) is required for this secondary teaching position
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2+ years of secondary school Biology and Science teaching experience — with a strong preference for candidates with UAE teaching experience on their record
- Candidates with other Middle East teaching experience (Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain) will also be actively considered for this position
- Prior experience teaching within an American curriculum, IB Diploma, or IGCSE Biology programme is a highly valued advantage for this multi-pathway school
