A growing Digital Cloud Infrastructure Engineering team in Abu Dhabi is seeking a Senior Data & Graph Platform Engineer to work across relational databases, graph databases, and Kubernetes-based infrastructure. You’ll help engineering teams build reliable, scalable, high-performance data platforms, supporting multiple concurrent cloud infrastructure and Internal Developer Platform initiatives.
About the Role
Core Focus: PostgreSQL administration, graph data modeling, and Kubernetes-based stateful workloads
Technology Stack: PostgreSQL, Neo4j, FalkorDB, Cypher, StatefulSets, Persistent Volumes
Scope: Multiple concurrent cloud infrastructure and data platform initiatives
Platform Impact: Software catalogs, service catalogs, dependency mapping, and Internal Developer Platform capabilities
Why This Role Stands Out
Strategic Location: Abu Dhabi, a fast-growing hub for cloud and data engineering talent
Cutting-Edge Stack: Hands-on work across relational and graph databases at scale
Cross-Team Impact: Collaborate with platform, infrastructure, application, and data engineering teams
Career Growth: Deepen expertise in database reliability, platform engineering, and Kubernetes operators
Position Overview
As a Senior Data & Graph Platform Engineer, you will administer, optimize, and maintain PostgreSQL environments for high availability, reliability, and performance, while designing and implementing graph data models using Neo4j and FalkorDB. You will operate stateful database workloads on Kubernetes and provide technical guidance on choosing between relational and graph-based data models based on data nature and access patterns.
Why This Role Matters: As Senior Data & Graph Platform Engineer, you shape the core data architecture behind software and service catalogs, dependency mapping, and impact analysis, work hands-on with Neo4j, FalkorDB, and PostgreSQL at scale, operate stateful workloads across Kubernetes-native infrastructure, influence platform engineering standards across multiple engineering teams, and grow your career at the intersection of data architecture and cloud-native infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
PostgreSQL Administration & Performance
- Administer, optimize, and maintain PostgreSQL environments for high availability, reliability, and performance
- Manage database backups, replication, indexing, capacity planning, monitoring, and performance tuning
Graph Data Modeling & Engineering
- Design and implement graph data models using Neo4j and FalkorDB
- Develop and optimize Cypher queries for graph traversal, dependency analysis, and relationship-based use cases
- Design software catalog and service catalog-style data models representing entities, ownership, and dependencies
- Enable data models supporting catalog visualization, dependency mapping, and impact analysis
Kubernetes & Stateful Workloads
- Operate and maintain stateful database workloads on Kubernetes, including StatefulSets and Persistent Volumes
- Support database lifecycle management including deployment, upgrades, backups, recovery, and scaling
Cross-Team Architecture & Standards
- Provide technical guidance on choosing between relational and graph-based data models
- Collaborate with platform, infrastructure, application, and data engineering teams on scalable architecture
- Review and optimize database schemas, queries, and indexing strategies across platforms
- Support multiple concurrent initiatives across Cloud Infrastructure Engineering and Internal Developer Platform environments
Qualifications & Requirements
Experience Requirements
- 5+ years of work experience with Kubernetes
- 5+ years of work experience with Graph Databases
- 5+ years of work experience with PostgreSQL
Core Technical Skills
- Strong hands-on experience with PostgreSQL administration and performance tuning
- Proven experience designing and operating graph databases, particularly Neo4j and/or FalkorDB
- Strong knowledge of Cypher and graph data modeling
- Solid understanding of relational schema modeling, indexing, joins, and query optimization
- Hands-on experience operating stateful workloads on Kubernetes, including StatefulSets and Storage Classes
- Experience with database backup, replication, recovery, scaling, and high-availability strategies
Additional Skills
- Experience comparing, integrating, or migrating between Neo4j and FalkorDB
- Experience with data pipelines, ETL, or data integration
- Experience designing service catalog, CMDB, or asset relationship models
- Basic Go programming and familiarity with gRPC service-to-service communication
About This Opportunity
This role sits at the center of a Digital Cloud Infrastructure Engineering and Internal Developer Platform effort, spanning relational and graph data platforms, software and service catalogs, dependency and impact analysis, and Kubernetes-based stateful services. It’s a chance to work across the full breadth of modern cloud-native data architecture rather than being confined to a single project.
Career Excellence: Advance your career at the intersection of database reliability engineering, graph technology, and platform engineering.
Who Should Apply?
- PostgreSQL DBAs: With 5+ years of high-availability and performance tuning experience
- Graph Database Engineers: Skilled in Neo4j, FalkorDB, and Cypher query design
- Kubernetes Platform Engineers: Experienced operating stateful workloads and database operators
- Data Architects: Comfortable choosing between relational and graph-based models
- Platform Engineering Professionals: Interested in internal developer platforms and software catalogs
