Key Responsibilities
FPGA Design Leadership
- Lead the development and testing of complex FPGA designs using VHDL and/or Verilog
- Drive projects from concept, through simulation and implementation, to verification and documentation
- Take technical ownership of FPGA design decisions and architectural choices across projects
- Contribute to the development and improvement of efficient engineering processes and workflows
SDR & DSP Engineering
- Design, simulate, code, and verify FPGA solutions for software-defined radio (SDR) applications
- Develop and optimize digital signal processing (DSP) algorithms for high-performance FPGA implementations
- Apply expertise in high-speed digital design to deliver robust and efficient SDR solutions
- Evaluate and select appropriate FPGA architectures and IP cores for SDR and DSP workloads
Timing Analysis & Architecture Optimization
- Perform timing analysis and optimization for high-speed, complex FPGA architectures
- Identify and resolve timing closure challenges across complex multi-clock domain designs
- Optimize resource utilization, power consumption, and throughput in high-performance FPGA designs
- Apply best-practice FPGA design methodologies to ensure robustness, maintainability, and scalability
Hardware Platform Integration & Support
- Support the evaluation, integration, and deployment of control boards and hardware platforms
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for customer-facing projects where required
- Work with RF test equipment to validate FPGA-based SDR implementations
- Collaborate with embedded systems teams to support FPGA integration into wider hardware platforms
Scripting, Automation & Documentation
- Develop and maintain FPGA build and verification scripts using TCL and Bash
- Apply Python for automation, data analysis, and test scripting where required
- Produce high-quality technical documentation, design specifications, and verification reports
- Contribute to standardized engineering workflows and reusable design processes across the team
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- BSc or higher in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline (REQUIRED)
- Postgraduate qualification in digital engineering or signal processing is advantageous
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 10+ years of relevant hands-on FPGA engineering experience (REQUIRED)
- Strong proven experience in FPGA development using VHDL and/or Verilog
- Experience working with RF test equipment is advantageous
- Familiarity with embedded systems integration is a plus
Essential Technical Skills
- Strong proficiency in VHDL and/or Verilog as primary hardware description languages
- Proficiency in scripting languages including TCL and Bash
- Python experience is highly desirable for automation and test scripting
- Expertise in FPGA timing analysis and optimization for high-speed complex architectures
- Knowledge of SDR concepts and DSP algorithm development for FPGA implementation
