Position Overview
This Maintenance Technician role — covering plumbing, drainage and wastewater-related maintenance functions similar to Sewage Plant Operator support — involves responding to guest repair requests, performing preventive maintenance on tools, kitchen and mechanical room equipment, testing and repairing plumbing systems including drains and toilets, identifying and operating shut-off valves for equipment and buildings, maintaining maintenance inventory, and demonstrating basic knowledge across air conditioning, electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems.

Key Responsibilities
Guest Repairs & Communication
- Respond and attend to guest repair requests
- Communicate with guests/customers to resolve maintenance issues
Plumbing, Drainage & Utility Systems
- Test, troubleshoot and perform basic repairs on plumbing, including plunging toilets and unclogging drains
- Identify, locate and operate all shut-off valves for equipment and utility shut-offs for buildings
- Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies as needed
Preventive Maintenance & Equipment
- Perform preventive maintenance on tools, kitchen and mechanical room equipment, including cleaning and lubrication
- Visually inspect tools, equipment or machines
- Perform basic repairs on electrical components, including lamps, extension cords and internet devices
Multi-Trade & General Facilities Skills
- Demonstrate basic knowledge across air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and pneumatic/electronic systems
- Perform surface preparation and painting, minor drywall and wood trim repair, bulb and A/C filter replacement
- Perform repairs on interior and exterior landscaping and external landscaping sprinklers
Safety & Communication
- Use the Lockout/Tagout system before performing any maintenance work
- Communicate each day’s activities and problems to other shifts using approved communication programs
- Follow company safety and security policies; report maintenance problems, hazards, accidents or injuries
- Complete safety training and certifications; properly store flammable materials
🎓 Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
Experience Requirements
- Some experience in general maintenance, exterior and interior surface preparation and painting
- Experience in hotel engineering or maintenance is a plus
- No supervisory experience required
Required License/Certification
- Valid driver’s licence
Essential Skills
- Basic computer skills, including inputting air handler schedules and temperature changes
- Ability to move, lift, carry, push and pull objects up to 50 lbs without assistance
- Ability to move up and down stairs, service ramps and ladders
- Clear, professional communication skills
