Position Overview
The Software Engineer, micro Platforms at micro1 is a fully remote fullstack engineering role with genuine end-to-end ownership of critical internal platform systems. You will design and build scalable backend services and APIs in TypeScript with NestJS, develop performant frontend interfaces in React, optimise PostgreSQL schemas and query performance, and collaborate with product, operations, and design teams to translate ambiguous requirements into reliable, maintainable systems. Operating in a fast-moving, AI-adjacent engineering environment, you will improve platform reliability and observability, conduct rigorous code reviews, debug production issues with urgency, and make pragmatic tradeoffs between speed, scalability, and maintainability — all while growing your ownership of increasingly complex platform capabilities.

Key Responsibilities
Fullstack Platform System Development
- Contribute to the design and development of end-to-end fullstack systems powering critical internal workflows and platform capabilities across micro1’s operations
- Build clean, scalable backend services and APIs with clear contracts, well-defined ownership, and documentation that makes the platform easy to understand and extend
- Develop high-quality, performant frontend interfaces in React that are used daily by internal teams and operational stakeholders — prioritising usability and reliability
- Participate in data modelling and database performance optimisation — designing schemas, tuning queries, and ensuring the PostgreSQL layer is maintainable and performant at scale
Platform Reliability & Observability
- Improve platform reliability, observability, and developer experience across internal tooling — implementing monitoring, alerting, and logging practices that surface issues before they impact operations
- Help debug and resolve production issues with urgency and ownership — treating operational incidents as opportunities to improve system resilience and prevent recurrence
- Uphold engineering quality through thorough code reviews, comprehensive testing, and a continuous improvement mindset across all platform engineering work
- Make pragmatic tradeoffs between speed, scalability, and maintainability — balancing short-term delivery velocity with long-term platform health in a fast-moving environment
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Requirements Translation
- Collaborate closely with product, operations, and design teams to translate ambiguous, evolving requirements into scalable, well-structured technical systems

Technical Requirements & Skills
Core Technical Requirements
- Experience building or contributing to production fullstack systems — through internships, significant personal projects, or professional software engineering roles
- Strong TypeScript fundamentals across both frontend and backend environments — comfortable working in a fully typed codebase at scale
- Familiarity with backend development using Node.js — experience with NestJS is a meaningful plus and actively preferred
- Experience building user interfaces with React or equivalent modern frontend frameworks — comfortable with component architecture, state management, and performance optimisation
- Understanding of relational databases such as PostgreSQL — including core data modelling principles, query writing, and schema design
- Familiarity with RESTful APIs and distributed system communication patterns — comfortable designing clean API contracts for internal consumption
