Position Overview
The Junior Accountant at CARIVA Dubai supports the Finance team across a broad range of day-to-day accounting functions. This hands-on role covers posting and processing journal entries, maintaining the general ledger, managing accounts receivable and payable records, processing vendor payments, performing account reconciliations, assisting with the preparation of balance sheets and income statements, preparing weekly and monthly financial reports, and supporting payroll and expense review activities. The role also plays an active part in monthly and year-end closing activities under the guidance of senior accountants. Key Responsibilities
General Ledger & Journal Entries
- Post and process journal entries accurately to ensure all business transactions are properly recorded in the accounting system
- Update and maintain financial data in accounting databases to ensure information is accurate, complete, and readily available to the Finance team
- Maintain the general ledger with precision — ensuring all entries are coded correctly, reconciled regularly, and compliant with company accounting policies
- Support senior accountants in reviewing general ledger activity and resolving any posting discrepancies or data inconsistencies identified
Accounts Receivable & Accounts Payable
- Update accounts receivable records and issue accurate customer invoices in a timely manner — monitoring outstanding balances and following up as required
- Update accounts payable records and process vendor payments in accordance with approved payment terms and company procedures
- Perform regular account reconciliations for both AR and AP — ensuring accuracy, identifying and resolving discrepancies promptly and professionally
- Maintain organised and up-to-date records for all accounts receivable and payable transactions to support audit readiness and financial transparency
Financial Reporting & Statement Preparation
- Assist in the preparation of balance sheets, income statements, and other financial statements in accordance with legal and company accounting and financial guidelines
- Prepare and submit accurate weekly and monthly financial reports as required by the Finance team and management
- Support the preparation of financial data summaries and variance analysis reports to assist senior accountants and management decision-making
- Ensure all financial reporting is completed accurately, on time, and in full compliance with applicable accounting standards and company requirements
Payroll Support & Month-End / Year-End Closing
- Assist with reviewing expenses, payroll records, and related documentation as assigned — ensuring accuracy and completeness across all payroll support activities
- Assist senior accountants in the preparation of monthly and yearly closing activities — supporting timely and accurate period-end financial close processes
- Support other ad hoc accounting projects and tasks as assigned by the Finance team — maintaining flexibility and a proactive approach to team priorities
- Ensure all accounting tasks are completed within defined timelines and to the required quality standards — maintaining a detail-oriented, organised work approach throughout
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (BCom), Master’s in Commerce (MCom), or MBA in Finance or Accounting
- Professional qualification such as ACA, ACCA, or CMA is a plus but not required for this role
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 to 3 years of proven experience as a Junior Accountant or in a similar accounting role
- Good understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles, practices, and applicable standards
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office — particularly Excel for financial data management and reporting
Essential Skills
- Strong numerical aptitude — good with numbers, figures, and analytical reasoning in a financial accounting context
- Excellent organisational abilities and great attention to detail — essential for maintaining accurate records and producing reliable financial reports
- Good verbal and written communication skills for coordinating with the Finance team and other internal stakeholders
