Position Overview

The Supply Chain Manager at Huawei Düsseldorf manages the logistics of grid-forming BESS container operations — coordinating with procurement managers to manage bidding processes based on demand forecasts, overseeing road permit applications and road surveys for BESS container transport with Huawei’s Logistics Service Partners (LSP), managing delivery-to-site plans based on supply manager demand, and monitoring en-route deliveries. This role sits at the intersection of energy storage technology logistics and cross-functional supply chain management — requiring strong German and English bilingual communication, logistics systems expertise and a valid driver’s license for site visits and logistics coordination activities.

Why This Role Matters: Battery Energy Storage Systems are central to Germany’s renewable energy transition — and the BESS containers that Huawei’s Supply Chain Manager logistics team plans, permits and delivers to sites across Germany are the physical infrastructure that stores the solar and wind energy that powers Germany’s green future. Every road permit secured on time, every delivery-to-site coordinated correctly and every en-route shipment monitored proactively keeps Germany’s energy storage project timelines on track — making this supply chain role a direct contributor to one of Europe’s most important technology and infrastructure transitions.

Key Responsibilities

BESS Container Bidding & Procurement Coordination

  • Manage the bidding process for grid-forming BESS containers — working based on demand forecasts and cooperating closely with the procurement manager to ensure all bidding activities are completed accurately and on time.
  • Coordinate with procurement, project management and commercial teams to align bidding timelines, container specifications and delivery requirements for each BESS project across Germany and the European market.
  • Monitor and track bid status, supplier responses and procurement timelines — proactively identifying delays or issues that could impact project delivery schedules and escalating appropriately for rapid resolution.

Road Permit Management & Road Survey Coordination

  • Manage road permit applications for BESS container transport — coordinating with Huawei’s Logistics Service Partners (LSP) to ensure all necessary permits for oversize and heavy transport loads are applied for correctly and secured on schedule.
  • Coordinate road surveys for BESS container delivery routes — assessing route feasibility, infrastructure constraints and regulatory requirements to ensure containers can be safely and legally transported to project sites across Germany.
  • Maintain accurate records of all road permit applications, approvals, route surveys and transport compliance documentation — ensuring full traceability and regulatory compliance for all BESS container transport operations.

Delivery-to-Site Planning & En-Route Monitoring

  • Manage delivery-to-site planning for BESS containers — coordinating logistics schedules, carrier bookings and site arrival plans based on supply manager demand and project site readiness requirements.
  • Monitor en-route delivery of BESS containers in real time — tracking shipment progress, identifying transit delays or issues and coordinating with LSP partners to resolve delivery problems that could impact project timelines.
  • Communicate delivery status updates clearly and accurately to internal project teams, site managers and supply chain leadership — ensuring all stakeholders have timely, reliable information on BESS container delivery progress.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with supply managers, site engineers, procurement teams and logistics service partners — ensuring smooth end-to-end BESS container delivery execution from warehouse to project site.
