 Position Overview
As a senior technical member of the workshop, you will have the authority to plan and oversee complex repairs with limited supervision. You will be responsible for the full lifecycle of the equipment—from inspection and disassembly to final alignment and reassembly—while serving as a mentor to help train other employees in the department’s specific functions.
 Why This Role Matters: As Workshop Mechanic, you document, erect, alter, install, align, repair, replace, disassemble, reassemble, and inspect rotating equipment with high-precision workmanship, alter and overhaul rotors, turbines, shafts, sleeves, gears, and couplings using advanced technical mastery, accurately measure and record critical clearances and dimensions on turbines, compressors, and associated machinery, read and comprehend engineering drawings, work scopes, and verbal instructions with precision, apply advanced knowledge of lifting, rigging, crane, and forklift operations, and work effectively in a team environment, helping to train other hourly employees in repair processes and procedures while pursuing continuous professional development.
Key Responsibilities
Mechanical Execution & Overhaul
- Document, erect, alter, install, align, repair, replace, disassemble, reassemble, and inspect rotating equipment
- Alter and overhaul rotors, turbines, disc and blade holders, shafts, sleeves, gears, and couplings
- Accurately measure and record critical clearances and dimensions on turbines and compressors
Quality, Safety & Documentation
- Read and comprehend engineering drawings, sketches, work scopes, and verbal instructions
- Understand and process documentation such as inspection reports, photo logs, and hold tags
- Maintain proficiency to pass the annual dimensional inspection test
Operations & Leadership
- Apply advanced knowledge of lifting, rigging, crane, and forklift operations
- Work effectively in a team environment and help train other hourly employees
Shift Continuity & Professionalism
- Maintain continuity among work shifts through documentation and communication
- Conduct yourself professionally with internal and external customers
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalency
Experience Requirements
- 5-8 years of experience specifically with rotating turbo machinery, including turbines and compressors
- Proven ability to plan and oversee repairs with limited supervision
