Position Overview
This Senior Logistics Officer role sits at the heart of EDGE Group’s import and export operations. You will coordinate shipment schedules, monitor cargo movement, manage customs clearance, permits and NOCs, prepare accurate logistics documentation, negotiate freight rates to reduce demurrage and storage costs, and collaborate across Finance and internal departments to guarantee smooth, cost-effective, and on-time delivery of goods.

Key Responsibilities
Shipment Coordination & Monitoring
- Coordinate import and export shipment schedules with suppliers, customers, and freight forwarders
- Monitor shipments and provide timely status updates to relevant stakeholders
- Coordinate with shipping agents on vessel schedules, delivery orders, and clearance requirements
- Ensure cost-effective and on-time delivery of outbound shipments
Customs, Permits & Documentation
- Coordinate customs clearance requirements, permits, NOCs, and shipping documentation
- Prepare and review logistics documents including invoices, packing lists, delivery notes, and clearance/transportation letters
- Maintain accurate records of incoming and outgoing shipments
- Ensure full compliance with international shipping and customs regulations
Freight Negotiation & Cost Control
- Negotiate freight rates and free periods to minimize demurrage and storage costs
- Support export shipments by obtaining competitive freight quotations
- Arrange third-party transportation and logistics support as required
- Support logistics budget preparation and ongoing cost monitoring
Cross-Functional & Finance Coordination
- Coordinate with Finance on shipment and clearance-related payments
- Work closely with internal departments to ensure smooth logistics operations
- Liaise with transporters and customs clearance teams on a daily basis
- Support wider supply chain planning across the organisation
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Management, or a related field
- Master’s degree or MBA in Supply Chain Management is an advantage
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in logistics, supply chain, or a related function
- Hands-on experience with import/export shipments and customs clearance processes
- Experience coordinating with freight forwarders, shipping agents, transporters, and suppliers
Essential Skills
- Good knowledge of shipping and logistics documentation
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems
- Strong written and spoken English
- Strong knowledge of customs permits, clearance requirements, and international shipping processes (preferred)
- Experience negotiating freight rates and terms with logistics service providers (preferred)
- Arabic language skills are an advantage
