Job Overview — Account Manager Food Applications
The Account Manager – Food Applications will be accountable for driving sales growth in food & beverage sectors while managing business through distributor networks and direct customer relationships across the IMEA region. This strategic role combines technical expertise in food science with commercial acumen to position Nouryon’s CMC solutions as the preferred choice for food manufacturers.
You will serve as the regional expert for food & beverage CMC applications, developing new business opportunities, negotiating sales agreements, managing distributor partnerships, and collaborating with cross-functional teams including business management, supply chain, operations, marketing, innovation, and technology departments.

Key Responsibilities
As Account Manager for Food Applications at Nouryon Dubai, your responsibilities include:
Sales & Business Development
- Drive sales growth for all Nouryon CMC applications across IMEA region with primary focus on food & beverage sectors
- Develop new business opportunities through distributor partners and direct engagement with new and existing accounts
- Negotiate sales agreements, pricing, and contract terms with customers across the region
- Become the recognized CMC expert for food & beverage applications and the main go-to person for industry enquiries
- Identify and pursue opportunities in consumer and industrial (C&I) applications to diversify revenue streams
Distributor & Account Management
- Manage relationships with distributor partners ensuring alignment with Nouryon’s business objectives and growth targets
- Provide technical support, training, and business development assistance to distributor sales teams
- Monitor distributor performance, market coverage, and customer satisfaction
- Develop strategies to strengthen distributor capabilities and expand market reach
- Balance indirect sales through distributors with direct customer relationships for strategic accounts
Market Intelligence & Strategic Planning
- Monitor, analyze, and evaluate market performance, trends, consumer behavior, and competitor activity to identify opportunities
- Gather and analyze customer feedback to generate new product and solution ideas
- Identify product or service features that need enhancement to meet evolving customer needs
- Provide strategic input on market dynamics, pricing strategies, and competitive positioning
- Contribute to regional business planning and growth strategies
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Manage effective communication with business management, supply chain, operations, marketing, innovation, and technology teams
- Provide monthly sales forecasting data to support production planning and supply chain optimization
- Collaborate with technical teams to develop application-specific solutions for customer challenges
- Work with marketing to develop promotional materials, technical literature, and market campaigns
- Partner with innovation teams to introduce new products and applications to market
Customer Engagement & Technical Support
- Conduct regular customer visits to understand application needs, provide technical guidance, and strengthen relationships
- Support organization of customer seminars, technical workshops, and facility visits
- Assist and represent Nouryon at industry exhibitions, trade shows, and conferences
- Provide application development support helping customers optimize CMC usage in formulations
- Troubleshoot customer technical issues and coordinate with technical functions for resolution
Reporting & Administration
- Perform regular sales reporting and customer visit documentation using CRM systems
- Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, opportunities, and sales pipeline
- Assist in establishing and reviewing credit limits for customers based on risk assessment
- Ensure compliance with company policies, pricing guidelines, and approval processes
- Track KPIs including sales growth, market share, customer retention, and distributor performance
Required Qualifications
The ideal candidate for this food applications account manager position must meet:
Educational Requirements (MANDATORY)
- Technical degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or similar scientific field
- Strong technical foundation to understand food applications, ingredient functionality, and formulation science
Experience Requirements (MANDATORY)
- Minimum 5 years of proven sales experience in IMEA region
- Demonstrated success in international business environment with cross-cultural communication skills
- Food industry sales experience strongly preferred (food ingredients, food additives, or specialty chemicals for food applications)
- Experience managing distributor networks and channel partnerships
- Track record of achieving sales targets and growing market share
Industry Knowledge & Skills
- Deep understanding of food & beverage industry including manufacturing processes, regulatory requirements, and market dynamics
- Knowledge of CMC (Carboxymethyl Cellulose) applications or willingness to develop expertise quickly
- Experience in consumer & industrial (C&I) applications is advantageous or willingness to expand into these sectors
- Understanding of food ingredient functionality including thickening, stabilization, texture modification, and water binding
- Familiarity with food safety regulations and quality standards in IMEA markets
