Position Overview

This Graduate Engineer position at Penspen’s Abu Dhabi office is a development-level discipline engineering role designed to provide hands-on support to the engineering team across active energy sector projects. As an Electrical Engineer graduate — or graduate from a related engineering discipline — you will work within a supportive, high-performing team environment, completing assigned engineering tasks, learning from experienced professionals, and building the technical skills and project management awareness needed for a long-term engineering career in the oil and gas industry.

 Key Responsibilities

Engineering Project Support

  • Provide direct engineering support to the project team across active oil and gas energy sector projects
  • Assist senior engineers in preparing, reviewing, and delivering engineering documentation and reports
  • Complete assigned non-complex engineering tasks to a high standard under the guidance of senior discipline leads
  • Contribute to project deliverables while developing technical knowledge and engineering competencies

Technical Engineering Tasks

  • Originate non-complex and non-critical engineering work within your designated discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Process, or I&C)
  • Apply basic working knowledge of standard engineering software packages relevant to your discipline
  • Produce clear, well-structured engineering reports demonstrating strong technical writing skills
  • Learn from errors made under close supervision and actively improve technical output quality

Cross-Departmental Communication

  • Actively exchange information within your department and across other departments as required
  • Communicate clearly and positively with team members, project managers, and department leads
  • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills in English across all project interactions
  • Support a collaborative, solutions-focused team culture with a consistent can-do attitude

Schedule & Budget Awareness

  • Develop basic awareness of project schedule dates and key delivery milestones
  • Build foundational understanding of man-hour budgets and their importance in engineering project delivery
  • Work diligently to complete assigned tasks on time and within the scope defined by the project team
  • Demonstrate reliability and dependability in meeting task deadlines under engineering team supervision

Qualifications & Requirements

Educational Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from a recognized university in a relevant discipline
  • Accepted disciplines: Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Process, Instrumentation & Control Engineering
  • Master’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline is an added advantage

Experience Requirements

  • 0 to 3 years of oil and gas industry experience — fresh graduates are strongly encouraged to apply
  • Previous work experience within the UAE or broader GCC region is an added advantage
  • Exposure to energy sector projects, internships, or academic research in relevant engineering fields is beneficial
