Position Overview

This Sheet Metal Engineer role in Sharjah, UAE, carries both technical and supervisory responsibility for all structural maintenance activities on airline and third-party aircraft within an active MRO shop environment. You will perform and certify scheduled and unscheduled structural maintenance, issue Certificates of Release to Service (CRS), provide technical guidance to shop technicians, investigate and resolve structural defects through root cause analysis, manage shop resources and documentation, enforce safety and human factors standards, and maintain effective coordination with Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Technical Procurement teams. An OEM or equivalent certification for Sheet Metal parts is a non-negotiable mandatory requirement, along with a minimum of 5 years’ experience with at least 2 years in a certifying or supervisory capacity.

Why This Role Matters: As Sheet Metal Engineer in Sharjah UAE, you hold direct airworthiness responsibility for aircraft structural integrity on every aircraft you certify and release to service, apply your OEM-certified sheet metal expertise to Airbus structural repairs and modifications that directly ensure passenger and crew safety, lead and supervise a skilled team of certifying and shop technicians in a high-stakes, precision-critical aviation maintenance environment, build one of the most career-defining roles in commercial MRO — a CRS-authority structural engineer with Airbus and OEM credentials in the UAE, and advance your aviation engineering career at a Sharjah-based airline MRO operating at the heart of the UAE’s dynamic and growing civil aviation sector.

 Key Responsibilities

Structural Maintenance Performance & CRS Certification

  • Perform and certify all scheduled and unscheduled aircraft structural maintenance — including detailed inspections, structural testing, repairs, part replacements, and modifications — fully in line with approved maintenance data and regulatory requirements
  • Issue Certificates of Release to Service (CRS) for structural parts and assemblies upon satisfactory completion and verification of all maintenance work against organisational and regulatory standards
  • Review and interpret work instructions, task cards, Structural Repair Manuals (SRM), and approved engineering orders to ensure all structural maintenance is performed correctly and compliantly
  • Apply OEM-certified sheet metal repair techniques to aircraft structural components with precision, ensuring restored parts meet airworthiness standards for return to service on commercial aircraft

Technical Supervision & Team Leadership

  • Provide authoritative technical guidance, instruction, and hands-on supervision to certifying technicians and shop technicians — ensuring all tasks are performed to the required engineering standard and in full compliance with maintenance procedures
  • Plan, allocate, and oversee daily shop activities through effective review of maintenance schedules — ensuring efficient, compliant, and cost-effective utilisation of shop resources, tools, and personnel
  • Deputise for the Shop Supervisor or Lead Engineer when required, assuming full technical oversight responsibility for the structural maintenance shop and its outputs
  • Contribute actively to the capability building and continuous improvement of maintenance procedures, shop practices, and technical processes to enhance operational efficiency, reliability, and regulatory compliance

Defect Investigation & Root Cause Analysis

  • Investigate and resolve complex technical issues arising during structural maintenance, performing thorough root cause analysis for recurring defects and structural anomalies identified during inspections
  • Coordinate with Engineering and Quality Assurance departments to develop and implement effective corrective actions that prevent defect recurrence and strengthen the reliability of structural maintenance outcomes
  • Identify airworthiness concerns proactively during routine inspections and unscheduled maintenance, escalating findings appropriately and ensuring timely resolution within approved engineering data
  • Apply strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and decision-making skills under time-pressure conditions to maintain aircraft availability and on-time departure performance for airline operations

Documentation, Safety & Stakeholder Coordination

  • Record all maintenance actions, defect findings, component removals, and parts usage accurately in maintenance information systems — ensuring full traceability, documentation completeness, and regulatory compliance at all times
  • Enforce strict adherence to safety precautions, human factors principles, and published maintenance procedures before, during, and after every task to protect personnel safety and maintain operational airworthiness
  • Manage shop stock, tool availability, and equipment readiness to ensure maintenance operations proceed without unnecessary delays or resource shortfalls affecting aircraft scheduling
  • Maintain professional, effective communication and coordination with Engineering, Quality Assurance, Technical Procurement, and airline operations teams to ensure seamless maintenance flow and on-time component availability

Qualifications & Requirements

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering — specifically in the Structural or Airframe discipline — or an equivalent technical qualification from an accredited aviation institution
  • In-depth knowledge of aircraft structure maintenance regulations, applicable airworthiness authority standards, and international aviation safety requirements is essential for this certifying engineer role

Certification Requirements

  • OEM or equivalent certification for Sheet Metal parts is a strict mandatory requirement — candidates without this certification will not be considered for this role regardless of other qualifications
  • EASA Part-66 Category B1 licence or equivalent national airworthiness authority certification with structural / airframe type ratings is a strong advantage and highly preferred

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of total experience in aircraft structural maintenance — preferably on Airbus aircraft types including A320 family, A330, or equivalent commercial narrowbody and widebody platforms
  • At least 2 years of those 5 must have been in a certifying or supervisory capacity — with demonstrated CRS issuing authority and team oversight responsibility in an active MRO environment
  • Proven experience in commercial aircraft structural repairs, modifications, and defect rectification using approved SRM data and engineering dispositions in a regulatory-compliant MRO setting

Essential Skills

  • Strong structural troubleshooting, inspection, and diagnostic skills — including Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) familiarity and detailed visual and dimensional inspection of aircraft structural components
  • Proficiency in computer literacy and maintenance information systems for documentation, component tracking, work order management, and CRS record generation
  • Physical fitness and ability to work in challenging operational conditions including confined spaces, outdoor environments, and rostered shift patterns that support 24/7 airline maintenance operations
