Position Overview
Penspen is urgently seeking a highly experienced Senior Supervisor Mechanical for an Offshore PMC project based in Abu Dhabi, UAE. This critical role requires a seasoned offshore mechanical professional with a minimum of 15 years of total experience — including at least 5 years in offshore production platform environments. You will lead mechanical maintenance planning and execution, supervise multi-discipline teams and contractors, ensure HSE compliance, drive equipment reliability, support shutdown and turnaround activities, and prepare comprehensive maintenance reporting across all mechanical systems on active offshore production facilities and support platforms.

Key Responsibilities
Mechanical Maintenance Planning & Execution
- Plan, coordinate, supervise, and execute all mechanical maintenance activities on offshore production facilities, platforms, and offshore support facilities in Abu Dhabi
- Plan and execute a comprehensive maintenance program covering preventive, predictive, corrective, and shutdown maintenance activities across all mechanical systems and equipment
- Review and approve maintenance work orders and detailed job plans ensuring technical accuracy, resource alignment, and full compliance with engineering standards
- Coordinate all manpower, materials, tools, and equipment requirements to ensure seamless, uninterrupted mechanical maintenance operations on active offshore platforms
Team Leadership & Contractor Supervision
- Lead, supervise, and mentor mechanical maintenance teams, third-party contractors, and skilled technicians working across offshore production and support facilities
- Monitor overall team progress and performance, ensuring all maintenance activities are completed safely, on schedule, and in full alignment with quality standards
- Conduct regular toolbox talks, pre-job safety meetings, and HSE briefings to maintain a strong safety culture across all mechanical maintenance activities
- Ensure all offshore personnel under supervision comply with company policies, regulatory requirements, and offshore platform safety procedures at all times
Equipment Reliability & Performance Management
- Ensure consistent equipment reliability and maximum availability of all mechanical assets to fully support offshore production targets and operational continuity
- Monitor maintenance KPIs and equipment performance trends continuously, identifying early indicators of deterioration or potential failure that could impact production
- Support Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) initiatives to optimise maintenance strategies, reduce unplanned downtime, and extend equipment service life on offshore platforms
- Perform thorough Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) for all significant mechanical failures, recommending evidence-based equipment improvements and system modifications
Shutdown & Turnaround Management
- Participate actively in offshore shutdown planning, scope development, resource planning, and execution strategy to ensure successful, on-schedule turnaround completion
- Coordinate all mechanical shutdown activities including equipment isolation, maintenance execution, testing, reinstatement, and start-up support across offshore facilities
- Monitor shutdown progress against schedule, managing scope changes and resource conflicts to ensure delivery within planned timeframes and budget boundaries
- Apply extensive major shutdown and turnaround experience to manage complex multi-discipline mechanical work scopes on live offshore production assets
HSE Compliance & Technical Reporting
- Ensure strict compliance with all HSE policies, offshore safety regulations, permit-to-work systems, and industry best practices across all mechanical maintenance activities
- Review comprehensive maintenance reports and technical documentation, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and alignment with project and client reporting standards
- Prepare detailed daily, weekly, and monthly mechanical maintenance reports for project management, client teams, and offshore operations stakeholders
- Recommend and implement equipment improvements and technical modifications that enhance safety, reliability, and operational efficiency on offshore production platforms
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Diploma in Engineering — Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Chemical, or equivalent discipline from an accredited university or technical institution
- Additional technical certifications in offshore mechanical maintenance, equipment reliability, or HSE are considered a strong professional advantage
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 15 years or more of total mechanical maintenance experience, with at least 5 years of significant offshore production platform experience in the oil and gas sector
- Proven, hands-on experience working on offshore production platforms — managing mechanical maintenance teams, equipment, and complex maintenance scopes
- Demonstrated experience in major shutdowns and turnaround projects in offshore oil and gas environments, with full scope from planning through to completion
Preferred Experience
- Previous experience from PMC or EPC project backgrounds is strongly preferred and will significantly differentiate candidates during the selection process
- Prior ADNOC Offshore experience is a notable advantage and will be viewed very favourably by the hiring team for this Abu Dhabi project
