Key Responsibilities
Cross-Functional Discovery & Product Thinking
- Participate in continuous discovery alongside your cross-functional team — engineering, product, and data — to deeply understand customer and business needs
- Apply a product-minded engineering approach to minimize costly handovers and solve problems more effectively and efficiently
- Critically question and simplify existing tech organization systems, processes, and solutions to eliminate unnecessary complexity
- Empathize with end-user pains, desires, and needs to ensure every line of code you write delivers genuine customer value
Software Design, Development & Release
- Design, write, and release high-quality software as an end-to-end solution to real business domain problems
- Deliver value in small, well-tested batches in accordance with talabat’s engineering standards and continuous delivery practices
- Understand the scalability and complexity of your services and take full ownership of innovation across the entire SDLC
- Build and maintain systems using .NET, Golang, and C# — the predominant languages across talabat’s engineering stack
Distributed Systems & Cloud Engineering
- Design and operate distributed systems architecture including microservices, event-driven systems, and RESTful services at scale
- Work with relational and non-relational databases to ensure efficient, reliable data management across services
- Leverage cloud platforms including AWS, Google Cloud, and Azure to build scalable, resilient, and cost-efficient infrastructure
- Build, maintain, and continuously improve using Trunk Based Development and Continuous Delivery pipelines
Quality, Testing & Continuous Improvement
- Apply TDD (Test-Driven Development) and automated end-to-end quality practices to deliver software with the highest reliability
- Practice Pair Programming, Simple Design, and Continuous Refactoring as core Extreme Programming disciplines
- Support optimization of your team’s practices to develop it into a self-organized, continuously improving engineering unit
- Adhere to XP, Lean, and Continuous Delivery principles to deliver value with the highest quality and security in a sustainable way
Qualifications & Requirements
Technical Requirements
- 3+ years of software engineering experience, preferably within an Extreme Programming environment (TDD, Pair Programming, Simple Design, Continuous Refactoring)
- Strong proficiency in .NET, Golang, and/or C# as predominant engineering languages
- Hands-on experience with distributed systems architecture — microservices, event-driven systems, and RESTful API services
- Solid experience with both relational and non-relational databases in production environments
- Exposure to cloud platforms including AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Microsoft Azure
- Proven experience building and maintaining with Trunk Based Development and Continuous Delivery practices
- Strong focus on automated end-to-end quality and testing throughout the software development lifecycle
