Position Overview
The Business Finance Analyst at BP Abu Dhabi is a high-impact senior finance role within BP’s Finance Group, supporting all finance and commercial matters across the company’s Abu Dhabi oil and LNG operations. You will lead budget and forecast development, provide advanced economic and analytical support for major business decisions, manage investment governance and reserves reporting processes, participate in joint venture finance and audit committee engagements, and ensure full compliance with BP’s risk management policies. Key Responsibilities
Business Planning & Performance Management
- Lead and support the development of comprehensive budgets and financial forecasts for BP’s oil and LNG businesses in Abu Dhabi
- Monitor business performance continuously and provide timely, insightful analysis and commercial advice to support management decisions
- Develop and maintain integrated business planning models that align operational and financial performance across BP’s Abu Dhabi activities
- Prepare and present management reporting packages that clearly communicate performance, risks, and opportunities to senior leadership
Economic Analysis & Investment Governance
- Provide advanced economic and analytical support for significant business decisions across BP’s Abu Dhabi oil and LNG portfolio
- Lead BP’s internal processes for investment governance, reserves reporting, SMOG assessments, and impairment evaluations
- Maintain and create sophisticated economic models that support rigorous, data-driven investment decision-making
- Identify and communicate value-creation and optimisation opportunities through detailed commercial and financial analysis
Joint Venture Management & Compliance
- Actively participate in Joint Venture finance and audit committee meetings, representing BP’s financial interests and governance standards
- Advise on business decisions in full alignment with JV agreements to consistently protect and enhance BP’s commercial value
- Lead risk management processes across the Abu Dhabi portfolio and ensure compliance with all relevant BP financial policies
- Support internal and external audit processes with complete, well-organised financial documentation and technical analysis
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
- Communicate and coordinate effectively across a broad spectrum of technical and non-technical work groups within BP’s Abu Dhabi operations
- Build strong alignment with relevant teams across the business to drive outstanding financial and commercial outcomes
- Advise on policy and compliance matters, influencing decisions at senior stakeholder level with clear commercial rationale
- Support and contribute to process improvement initiatives that enhance finance function efficiency and analytical capability
Qualifications & Requirements
Education
- Degree-level education in Finance, Economics, Accountancy, Business Management, or an equivalent professional qualification
- Professional finance certifications such as CFA, ACCA, CPA, or CMA are a strong advantage for this senior analytical role
Experience Requirements
- Significant experience in finance, business planning, and economic evaluations specifically within the oil and gas industry
- Demonstrated experience leading investment governance processes, reserves reporting, and financial modelling in an energy context
- Experience working with Joint Ventures and managing complex JV agreements in the oil, gas, or LNG sector is highly desirable
- Knowledge and practical experience of LNG markets and LNG pricing dynamics is a significant advantage for this Abu Dhabi role
Essential Skills
- Strong analytical and financial modelling skills with sound understanding of accounting fundamentals and commercial acumen
- High level of diligence and initiative — ability to operate with limited supervision and deliver high-quality outputs independently
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint for financial modelling, reporting, and senior stakeholder presentations
- Strong communication skills with fluent English — ability to present complex financial analysis clearly to technical and non-technical audiences
