Position Overview

This Senior Flavorist role at ADM in Dubai is a rare and senior creative and scientific leadership position focused on building and leading flavour creation capabilities across the Middle East and North Africa. Working at the intersection of cutting-edge flavour science, innovation strategy, and commercial delivery — you will develop flavours from first principles across beverage, sweet, and dairy categories, support global key accounts with world-class flavour expertise, mentor the next generation of EMEA flavorists, and participate in global platforms of excellence. This is a role for a highly experienced, ISIPCA-trained or equivalent flavorist who combines deep technical mastery of flavour chemistry and raw materials with the creative vision and commercial awareness to build a dynamic, successful flavour portfolio for one of the world’s most important emerging food and beverage markets.

Why This Role Matters: As Senior Flavorist at ADM in Dubai, you will be the creative and scientific cornerstone of ADM’s flavour capabilities for the MENA and EMEA regions — developing innovative, reproducible flavours for beverage, sweet, and dairy categories that delight consumers across the Middle East and North Africa, mentoring the next generation of EMEA trainee flavorists, supporting global key accounts with expert flavour creation and technical guidance, and building an exceptional career at the forefront of the world’s most exciting flavour science and food ingredient innovation market.

Key Responsibilities

Flavour Creation & Innovation — From First Principles

  • Develop robust, reproducible, creative, and innovative flavours from first principles across a broad range of flavour types — aligning development outputs with sensory goals, cost targets, regulatory requirements, and ADM’s innovation strategy
  • Build ADM’s flavour creation capabilities specifically for the Middle East and North Africa — designing and developing flavour solutions that authentically resonate with regional consumer taste preferences and cultural food traditions
  • Identify new beverage, sweet, and dairy business opportunities using new technology platforms and novel raw materials — aligning discoveries with Science and Technology teams to develop genuinely innovative commercial solutions
  • Continuously optimise the creative process, workflows, and tools — developing jointly with production teams the Good Creative Practices (GCP) framework to optimise flavour production and monitor implementation across ADM’s MENA operations

Portfolio Development — Beverage, Sweet & Dairy MENA

  • Support the beverage portfolio teams to systematically identify and fill product range gaps — building a dynamic, commercially competitive, and regionally relevant portfolio across MENA’s Beverage, Sweet, and Dairy categories
  • Provide flavour creation expertise to the CD&D Portfolio Focus Team, Key Accounts, Top Projects, and Key Initiatives — delivering high-quality flavour solutions aligned with each account’s specific product requirements and timelines
  • Support innovation and flawless execution of beverage projects and initiatives for Global Key and Enterprise accounts — ensuring that ADM’s MENA flavour capabilities are fully competitive at the global level
  • Support global raw material harmonisation efforts — working across teams to align raw material usage, ensure supply security, and leverage global scale while maintaining the regional flavour character essential for MENA market success

Global Key Account & Technical Customer Support

  • Collaborate closely with CD&D, Sales, Marketing, Regulatory, Quality, Purchasing, and Operations teams to provide integrated, commercially impactful flavour solutions for ADM’s most important global and regional accounts
  • Support Sales and Marketing activities with deep CD&D expertise — participating actively in customer visits, technical presentations, flavour briefing sessions, and new product concept discussions with key client teams
  • Provide expert technical guidance to internal and external stakeholders on flavour chemistry, raw material selection, delivery technology, regulatory compliance, and sensory evaluation — communicating at all levels with clarity and authority
  • Participate in global platforms of excellence — sharing MENA-specific flavour knowledge, contributing to global flavour innovation initiatives, and representing ADM’s regional capabilities within the worldwide flavorist community

EMEA Trainee Flavorist Mentorship

  • Mentor and develop ADM’s EMEA trainee flavorists — sharing deep technical knowledge of flavour raw materials, flavour chemistry, creative composition techniques, and sensory evaluation methodology to accelerate their professional development
  • Guide trainees through structured development programmes — providing hands-on coaching in flavour brief interpretation, formula creation, sensory evaluation, regulatory consideration, and commercial application of flavour science
  • Build a strong, capable, and motivated flavorist team within the EMEA region — fostering a culture of creative excellence, scientific rigour, and continuous learning aligned with ADM’s global standards and values

Agile Development, Knowledge Management & Process Optimisation

  • Support agile development methodologies and knowledge management initiatives — ensuring that flavour creation insights, formulation data, and technical learnings are systematically captured and made accessible across ADM’s global CD&D teams
  • Contribute to continuous process optimisation across the creative development workflow — identifying inefficiencies, proposing improvements, and driving implementation of best practices that enhance both creative output and operational efficiency
  • Leverage Microsoft Office and project management tools to plan, track, and communicate flavour development projects — maintaining full visibility of project status, timelines, and deliverables across the MENA and global account portfolio

Qualifications & Requirements

Education & Professional Training

  • Science degree or higher qualification — Chemistry or Food Science is strongly preferred for this senior technical flavour creation role at ADM
  • Completed training at a recognised, accredited flavour school — ISIPCA (Institut Supérieur International du Parfum, de la Cosmétique et de l’Aromatique Alimentaire), an international flavour house, or the ADM Academy
  • ISIPCA-trained flavorists or equivalent internationally recognised flavour school graduates will be given strong consideration and are particularly encouraged to apply

Experience Requirements

  • At least 10 years of hands-on flavorist experience post-training — with a demonstrable portfolio of commercially successful flavour creations across beverage, sweet, dairy, or related food and beverage categories
  • Full working knowledge of all flavour raw materials, flavour chemistry principles, flavour creation methodologies, and flavour composition techniques across a broad range of flavour types and applications
  • Good working knowledge of food and beverage manufacturing processes and flavour delivery technologies — understanding how flavours perform during production, processing, and across the full product shelf life
  • Prior experience working with MENA, Middle Eastern, or emerging market food and beverage categories is a strong advantage — regional sensory knowledge and consumer preference understanding are highly valued for this role

Skills & Competencies

  • Well-developed communication skills — able to communicate flavour science concepts, creative rationale, and technical findings confidently and clearly at all organisational levels, from laboratory teams to executive stakeholders
  • Very good command of English — written and spoken — essential for global team collaboration, customer presentations, and technical documentation within ADM’s international organisation
  • Highly developed project management skills with working proficiency in Microsoft Office — including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word — for project planning, customer presentations, and flavour development reporting
  • Genuine creative passion for flavour — the enthusiasm, curiosity, and scientific creativity to develop flavours that surprise, delight, and authentically connect with consumers across the diverse cultures of the MENA region
