Position Overview
This Agronomic Research Scientist role supports Syngenta’s marketing and sales objectives by conducting comprehensive agronomic research studies on corn and soybean varieties. You will build collaborative relationships with sales and agronomy teams, lead the complete research lifecycle from study design through harvest, oversee field activities and research personnel, conduct statistical analysis of yield and agronomic data, and maintain research equipment to support accurate treatment applications and data collection.

Key Responsibilities
Relationship Building & Regional Coordination
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with sales and agronomy teams across Eastern Commercial Units
- Identify regional needs and deliver targeted agronomic solutions
- Act as a trusted agronomic advisor to dealers, customers, and industry influencers
Research Lifecycle Leadership
- Lead the complete research lifecycle from study design and prioritization through pre-planting preparations
- Manage technology agreements, seed treatment, plot planning, and field mapping for corn and soybean variety trials
- Ensure research studies align with marketing and sales objectives
Field Operations & Personnel Supervision
- Oversee all field activities including planting, plot maintenance, and harvest operations
- Manage treatment applications and data collection across multiple research sites
- Supervise part-time research personnel to ensure quality and consistency
Data Analysis & Reporting
- Conduct statistical analysis of yield and agronomic data
- Prepare technical reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders
- Confidently present research findings to internal teams, dealers, customers, and industry influencers
Equipment & Operational Excellence
- Maintain research equipment precision and efficiency through routine maintenance
- Support seasonal preparation and innovative equipment design
- Ensure accurate treatment applications and reliable data collection processes
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Ph.D. and/or M.S. in Agronomy or a related field strongly preferred
- Candidates with a B.S. in Agronomy and 5+ years of relevant research experience will be considered
Experience Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in a commercial or R&D agronomy role
- Experience conducting agronomy research trials and statistical data analysis
- Strong technical background with understanding of sales/commercial aspects
Essential Skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills to deliver key messages clearly
- Good personnel and facility management skills
- In-depth understanding of statistical principles and data analysis
- Knowledge of farming best practices, seed technologies, and crop protection
