Position Overview
As Agriculture Specialist, you will plan and execute national field research programs to grow AMVAC’s annual product development objectives. You’ll work closely with Commercial Teams to support the current product line and identify new opportunities, build relationships with key regional influencers including universities and private companies, follow competitive activities, identify strategic opportunities for new technology, and provide technical training on existing and new products to regional sales teams and key customers.

Key Responsibilities
Field Research & Product Development
- Plan and execute national field research programs to grow annual product development objectives
- Work with department peers to implement national R&D programs
- Identify strategic opportunities to capture new technology
- Add value to cross-functional teams tasked with finding new opportunities
Commercial & Regional Collaboration
- Work closely with Commercial Teams to support the current product line and identify new opportunities
- Create strong relationships with key regional influencers, including universities and private companies
- Assist regional Commercial Teams in the implementation of product demonstrations
- Follow and report on competitive activities within the region and product segments
Training & Technical Support
- Provide technical training on existing and new products to regional sales teams and key customers
- Actively participate in key regional and national technical conferences
- Support the Regulatory Affairs Department on new product evaluation questions
- Track regional Product Development operational expenses
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Master’s degree in biological sciences or an agricultural-related field (required)
- PhD in Entomology or Plant Pathology is a plus
Experience Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in commercial crop protection and plant physiology
- Specialty crops experience desired
- Knowledge across multiple crop protection disciplines
Essential Skills
- Basic concepts of product development, development planning, and product support
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Statistical design, analysis, and interpretation of research results
- Leadership, motivation, and self-discipline to work from a home office
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
- Willingness and ability to travel 30% to 40% of the time
- Physical location within the RTP research region and proximity to a regional airport
- Ability to pass a post-offer background check
