Position Overview

The Utilities Engineer at Parsons Dubai is a technically comprehensive role responsible for developing conceptual and detailed engineering designs for utility corridors — covering master planning, utility cross-sections, technical documentation, and coordination of both existing and new utility infrastructure across active urban development and infrastructure projects in the UAE.

You will work at the intersection of design engineering, multi-discipline coordination, and client-facing technical communication — preparing engineering models in Civil3D, contributing to BIM workflows, reviewing design deliverables, and applying advanced engineering principles to complex analytical challenges. Key Responsibilities

Utility Corridor Design & Master Planning

  • Develop comprehensive conceptual and detailed engineering designs for utility corridors — including master planning of utility networks, utility cross-section designs, technical specification writing, and the coordination of existing and proposed utility infrastructure across complex urban development sites

  • Provide structured technical input to the BIM/CAD Designer working on the same project — ensuring that design intent is correctly interpreted, accurately modelled, and properly documented within the project’s BIM environment
  • Review plans, profiles, and design drawings for technical compliance with design objectives — checking that all utility engineering outputs are clear, buildable, and suitable for construction use before formal submission or issue
  • Apply advanced engineering principles to complex analytical models — bringing engineering rigour and technical depth to the resolution of challenging utility routing, capacity, and interface design problems on complex multi-discipline projects

Multi-Discipline Design Coordination

  • Work collaboratively with engineers from other disciplines — including civil, structural, drainage, and MEP teams — to develop fully coordinated multi-discipline designs that resolve interface conflicts and deliver integrated, buildable utility infrastructure solutions
  • Ensure proper sequencing and logical integration of utility corridor designs with road, bridge, and civil infrastructure works — preventing design clashes and coordination gaps that could cause costly rework during construction
  • Coordinate with the design office on material technical reviews, engineering queries (RFIs), and design modifications — providing technically sound responses that maintain design quality and keep the project programme on track

Client Presentations, Reporting & Project Management

  • Prepare clear, professionally structured presentations and technical reports to explain utility engineering proposals, alternative solutions, and design recommendations to clients, local authorities, and senior Parsons management
  • Track the progress of assigned task deliverables against the original baseline project schedule — proactively flagging schedule risks and resource constraints to the project manager before they develop into programme delays

Qualifications & Requirements

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering — Civil, Infrastructure, or a related engineering discipline from a recognised institution; this is a mandatory minimum requirement for this position
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) Certificate is an advantage and will strengthen a candidate’s application — demonstrating professional development commitment and progress toward chartered engineer status

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant engineering experience — with demonstrated involvement in utility infrastructure design, utility corridor planning, or related civil/infrastructure engineering roles
