Position Overview
This Senior Pattern Master at Abadia develops first patterns from design sketches and tech packs by hand, cuts premium fabrics with precision to maximise every metre and minimise wastage, creates and grades production patterns across the full size range, attends fittings with the design team and drives corrections through to final approval, builds and maintains a consistent block and fit library, partners with production and suppliers to ensure patterns are correct and manufacturable, mentors and reviews the work of junior pattern makers, and solves construction and fit challenges while protecting Abadia’s brand quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
Pattern Development & Premium Fabric Cutting
- Develop first patterns from design sketches and tech packs, by hand, with precision and craftsmanship
- Cut premium fabrics with precision, maximising every metre of material and minimising production wastage
- Create and grade production patterns across the full size range for every collection
Fittings, Corrections & Fit Library Management
- Attend fittings with the design team and drive all corrections through to final approval
- Build and maintain a consistent block and fit library that anchors Abadia’s brand identity across seasons
- Solve construction and fit challenges while protecting the brand’s quality standards throughout
Production Coordination & Team Mentorship
- Partner with production teams and suppliers to ensure all patterns are correct, accurate, and manufacturable
- Mentor and review the work of junior pattern makers, elevating team standards and studio skills
- Communicate clearly and collaboratively with both design and production stakeholders
Qualifications & Requirements
Essential Experience
- 7+ years of experience in pattern making, including senior or lead-level experience
- Mastery of manual pattern cutting and grading — by hand
- Deep understanding of garment construction, fit, and fabric behaviour across premium materials
- Strong eye for detail and a high bar for finish quality in every garment
- Experience mentoring or leading a small pattern making team
- Clear communicator who works well with both design and production stakeholders
