Position Overview
This Installed Base Service Engineer role at Schneider Electric in Abu Dhabi covers the full spectrum of LV and MV field service activities — from troubleshooting, erection, and maintenance of MV products, to LV retrofit, mechanical busbar modification, switchgear testing, and protection relay programming. You will interface with customers and works teams on technical matters, execute spare parts and retrofit contracts, identify new service opportunities on customer sites, support engineering and asset management offers, and contribute to knowledge transfer within the Services Field domain across onshore and offshore project environments.

Key Responsibilities
LV/MV Specialist Field Operations
- Operate as an LV/MV specialist with full protection capability across customer-installed assets
- Perform MV troubleshooting, erection, and maintenance of MV products and equipment
- Perform LV troubleshooting, retrofit mechanical busbar modification, erection, maintenance, and testing of LV products
- Ensure complex installation, maintenance, and repair work on customer installed base is completed to the highest standard
Protection Relay Programming & Commissioning
- Program and troubleshoot protection relays including SEPAM, MICOM, and VIP systems
- Apply knowledge of other manufacturers’ protection relays as an additional advantage
- Perform testing and commissioning of MV/LV equipment and products to COD readiness
- Execute technical tasks following notification, dedicated to asset management offers and engineering projects
Switchgear Product Expertise
- Apply hands-on experience with Schneider Electric products including MC Set, Okken, PIX, GenieEvo, GHA, GMA, and WS
- Apply specific knowledge of LV switchgear including Okken and Blokset panel systems
- Apply knowledge of Masterpact NT/NW, Compact Breakers, and Micrologic LV trip units
- GIS switchgear experience — particularly GHA, GMA, and WS — is mandatory for this role
Contract Execution & Customer Interfacing
- Assist in spare parts, retrofit, and extension panel offer preparation and contract execution
- Interface with customers and works teams to clarify technical matters and resolve MV/LV product issues
- Perform contract execution for spare parts, retrofit extension panels, and maintenance jobs
- Identify new service opportunities while attending customer sites to promote Services growth
Technical Leadership & Knowledge Transfer
- Contribute to knowledge transfer within the Services Field domain with a coordination role across job holders
- Responsible for project delivery and field activities on customer installed base
- Support engineering and asset management offers with technical input and field expertise
- Work flexibly onshore and offshore as per project and job requirements
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering or a closely related discipline (REQUIRED)
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 5-8 years of experience in installation, mechanical retrofit, testing, commissioning, and maintenance activities (REQUIRED)
- GIS switchgear experience is mandatory — specifically GHA, GMA, and WS products
- ADDC/DEWA approval is a strong added advantage
- Onshore and offshore field work flexibility is required as per job demands
Essential Technical Skills
- Strong working knowledge of LV switchgear — Okken, Blokset, Masterpact NT/NW, Compact Breakers, and Micrologic trip units
- Hands-on experience with Schneider Electric MV/LV products: MC Set, PIX, GenieEvo, GHA, GMA, WS
- Protection relay programming and troubleshooting — SEPAM, MICOM, VIP, and third-party relays
- Proficiency in Windows, MS Office, and software tools related to test equipment and protection relays
- Digital experience and ability to meet Schneider Electric KPIs in the field
- Must have good communication and customer-interfacing skills in English
