Position Overview
This Senior Solar Design & Estimation Engineer develops detailed PV system designs including electrical layouts, single-line diagrams, cable sizing, and equipment selection for commercial and utility-scale projects, prepares technical proposals and cost estimations, analyses project feasibility and optimises system performance to meet client and regulatory requirements, reviews site assessments, coordinates with engineering and project management teams, ensures designs comply with local codes, international standards, and utility interconnection guidelines, supports tender processes, reviews contractor and vendor submissions, and provides technical guidance throughout project execution.

Key Responsibilities
PV System Design & Electrical Engineering
- Develop detailed PV system designs including electrical layouts, single-line diagrams, cable sizing, and equipment selection
- Perform system configuration, performance modelling, shading analysis, and layout optimisation for commercial and utility-scale projects
- Size cables and protection devices and prepare single-line diagrams meeting grid interconnection requirements
- Use PVsyst, Helioscope, AutoCAD, ETAP, or similar tools for design, simulation, and performance analysis
Technical Proposals, Estimation & Feasibility
- Prepare technical proposals and cost estimations for commercial, industrial, and utility-scale solar projects
- Analyse project feasibility and optimise system performance to meet client expectations and regulatory requirements
- Support tender processes, review contractor and vendor submissions, and provide technical guidance during execution
Compliance, Coordination & Standards
- Ensure all designs comply with DEWA, Dubai Municipality, local codes, international standards, and utility interconnection guidelines
- Review site assessments and coordinate with engineering and project management teams throughout the project lifecycle
- Communicate technical concepts clearly to stakeholders across multidisciplinary teams
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, or a related field
Essential Skills & Approvals
- Strong knowledge of solar power and solar systems — commercial and utility-scale project experience
- Advanced PV design skills — system configuration, performance modelling, shading analysis, layout optimisation
- Solid electrical design capabilities — cable sizing, protection devices, single-line diagrams, grid interconnection
- Proficiency with PVsyst, Helioscope, AutoCAD, ETAP, or similar design and simulation tools
- DEWA & Dubai Municipality Approved — mandatory advantage
