Position Overview

This Lead Mechanical Engineer role at Target Engineering involves leading the design and development of mechanical systems including piping, HVAC, rotating, and static equipment, ensuring compliance with ASME, API, and ISO standards, planning and managing mechanical engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle, overseeing procurement and vendor management, providing technical leadership during construction and commissioning, and leading a team of mechanical engineers and designers.

 Key Responsibilities

Mechanical System Design & Engineering

  • Lead the design and development of piping, HVAC, rotating, and static equipment systems
  • Review and approve engineering calculations, technical specifications, and design drawings
  • Ensure compliance with ASME, API, ISO, and client specifications
  • Identify technical risks and develop mitigation strategies

Project Planning & Execution

  • Plan and manage mechanical engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle
  • Develop engineering schedules and resource plans aligned with project objectives
  • Support Project Managers and Directors in achieving milestones, budgets, and quality
  • Monitor engineering progress and implement corrective actions where necessary

Procurement & Vendor Management

  • Prepare and approve technical requisitions for mechanical equipment and materials
  • Evaluate vendor proposals and participate in technical bid evaluations and negotiations
  • Review vendor documentation and oversee supplier inspections

Construction, Commissioning & HSE Leadership

  • Provide technical leadership during construction, commissioning, and start-up activities
  • Verify installations comply with approved designs and quality standards
  • Lead safety reviews, risk assessments, and promote a strong safety culture

Quality, Team Leadership & Stakeholder Management

  • Establish and maintain quality control processes for mechanical deliverables
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of mechanical engineers and designers
  • Act as the focal point for all mechanical engineering matters with clients and stakeholders

Qualifications & Requirements

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 15 years of mechanical engineering experience within Oil & Gas EPC, Power Generation, Industrial Plants, Marine, or Civil Construction
  • Minimum 5 years in a lead or managerial engineering position managing multidisciplinary teams

Essential Skills

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, systems, and equipment
  • Extensive experience with rotating equipment, static equipment, piping, and HVAC systems
  • Thorough understanding of ASME, API, ISO, and relevant industry regulations
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks, ANSYS, AutoCAD, and Primavera
  • Strong project planning, budgeting, and execution capabilities
