Position Overview
This Sheet Metal Engineer role involves performing, supervising, and certifying structural maintenance tasks on Airline and third-party aircraft, including repairs, modifications, installation, replacement, inspections, and defect rectification. You will provide technical oversight of shop activities, ensure airworthiness of serviced aircraft structures, and issue Certificates of Release to Service (CRS) for completed structural maintenance work.

Key Responsibilities
Structural Maintenance & Certification
- Perform and certify scheduled and unscheduled aircraft structure maintenance, including inspections, testing, repairs, and replacements
- Issue Certificates of Release to Service (CRS) for structural parts upon satisfactory completion
- Verify all completed work against regulatory and organizational standards
- Work in accordance with approved maintenance data and airline procedures
Shop Planning & Technical Supervision
- Review work instructions, task cards, and maintenance schedules to plan and allocate shop activities
- Provide technical guidance and supervision to certifying and shop technicians
- Ensure tasks are performed to required standards and documented procedures
- Deputize for the Shop Supervisor or Lead Engineer as needed
Troubleshooting & Root Cause Analysis
- Investigate and resolve technical issues on structural repairs and modifications
- Perform root cause analysis for recurring structural defects
- Coordinate with Engineering and Quality Assurance for corrective actions
- Record all maintenance actions, defect findings, and parts usage accurately in the system
Resource, Safety & Compliance Management
- Ensure availability and readiness of shop stock, tools, and equipment
- Manage resource utilization to minimize waste and control maintenance costs
- Enforce safety precautions and human factors principles before, during, and after task execution
- Maintain complete, traceable documentation meeting regulatory requirements
Stakeholder Coordination
- Coordinate with Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Technical Procurement teams
- Ensure seamless maintenance operations and on-time component availability
- Present a professional, technically competent image to regulators and customers
- Contribute to continuous improvement of shop practices and procedures
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (Structural/Airframe discipline)
- Equivalent technical discipline qualification also considered
Experience Requirements
- OEM or equivalent certification for Sheet Metal parts is mandatory
- Minimum 5 years’ experience, preferably on Airbus aircraft types
- At least 2 years in a certifying or supervisory capacity
Essential Skills
- In-depth knowledge of aircraft structure maintenance, regulations, and safety standards
- Strong troubleshooting, inspection, and diagnostic skills
- Strong decision-making and technical team management abilities
