Position Overview
This BIM Coordinator role in Abu Dhabi sits at the heart of large-scale marine and port infrastructure engineering projects. You will be responsible for preparing and managing pre-contract and post-contract BIM Execution Plans, developing BIM process requirements aligned to client specifications, and utilizing advanced tools like Autodesk Civil 3D, InfraWorks, and Revit to produce detailed infrastructure models. Key Responsibilities
BIM Execution Planning & Documentation
- Prepare comprehensive pre-contract and post-contract BIM Execution Plans (BEPs) aligned to project and client requirements
- Develop project BIM process requirements including MIDP, MDS, BIM workflows, LOIN matrices, and classification systems
- Prepare COBie requirements and all related BIM documentation to meet contractual and client standards
- Maintain and update BIM documentation throughout all project phases ensuring version control and compliance
3D Modelling & Visualization
- Utilize Autodesk Civil 3D, InfraWorks, and Revit to create detailed 3D models of port and marine infrastructure components
- Develop high-quality realistic renderings and visualizations to communicate design intent to clients and stakeholders
- Facilitate stakeholder engagement and support decision-making processes through compelling visual outputs
- Collaborate with architects, civil engineers, coastal engineers, and maritime specialists to integrate discipline-specific elements into BIM models
Clash Detection & MEP Coordination
- Conduct comprehensive clash detection analyses to identify and resolve conflicts across all engineering disciplines within BIM models
- Ensure seamless coordination and integration of structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems within the design framework
- Work closely with project teams to address clashes and design discrepancies, minimizing construction rework and cost overruns
- Facilitate interdisciplinary coordination meetings and design reviews to resolve conflicts and align all discipline outputs
Quantity Take-Offs, Cost & Schedule Support
- Extract accurate quantity take-offs and material estimates directly from BIM models to support cost estimation and procurement
- Generate detailed reports and schedules to facilitate project planning, budgeting, and resource allocation activities
- Support project scheduling activities using Synchro for 4D construction simulation and planning
- Produce Power BI dashboards and data reports to provide project teams with actionable BIM performance insights
Compliance, Standards & Innovation
- Ensure all BIM models comply with relevant maritime standards, industry regulations, and international best practices
- Prepare construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation based on BIM models for regulatory approvals
- Stay current with emerging BIM technologies, software updates, and industry trends in maritime and coastal engineering
- Identify and implement opportunities to optimize BIM design workflows, enhance team productivity, and improve overall project outcomes
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering — preferably Mechanical, Civil, Construction, Architecture, or Structural Engineering
- Equivalent professional qualifications in relevant engineering disciplines will also be considered
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of 8 years of hands-on BIM coordination experience, preferably within marine, port, or similar infrastructure industries
- Proven track record managing BIM workflows, clash detection, and multi-discipline coordination on complex engineering projects
- Prior experience working on GCC or Middle East infrastructure projects is a strong advantage
Software & Technical Skills
- Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Revit, Civil 3D, InfraWorks, and Navisworks for BIM modelling and clash detection
- Proficiency in Synchro for 4D scheduling, Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), Power BI for reporting, and Dynamo for parametric automation
- Professional certifications in Revit, Civil 3D, and Navisworks are strongly preferred
- Solid understanding of BIM standards including ISO 19650, COBie, and client-specific BIM requirements
