Why This Role Matters: As Consultant Pediatric Infectious Disease in Dubai, you provide expert specialist care to some of the most clinically complex and vulnerable pediatric patients in the UAE — infants, children, and adolescents with serious and multi-system infectious diseases, lead infection prevention and antimicrobial stewardship initiatives that directly protect patient safety and institutional quality standards across pediatric units, collaborate at the highest level with pediatricians, microbiologists, intensivists, transplant teams, and public health experts in a world-class multidisciplinary clinical environment, earn a genuinely life-changing tax-free compensation package of AED 70,000–85,000/month with comprehensive family benefits and full relocation support to Dubai, and build a prestigious specialist clinical career in the UAE — one of the world’s fastest-growing and most internationally recognized healthcare markets.
Key Responsibilities
Pediatric Infectious Disease Clinical Management
- Diagnose and manage a comprehensive range of pediatric infectious diseases — including viral, bacterial, fungal, and parasitic infections — across infants, children, and adolescents presenting to the institution
- Interpret and apply complex diagnostic investigations including microbiological cultures, PCR assays, serological studies, and diagnostic imaging findings to guide accurate clinical diagnosis and management
- Develop and implement evidence-based, individualized treatment plans for pediatric patients with both acute and chronic infectious conditions — ensuring clinical excellence and patient safety at every stage of care
- Provide specialized consultative services for immunocompromised pediatric patients and post-transplant children — managing the unique and complex infectious risks associated with these vulnerable patient populations
Infection Prevention, Control & Antimicrobial Stewardship
- Lead and champion infection prevention and control initiatives across pediatric units — developing protocols, conducting surveillance, and implementing evidence-based interventions to prevent healthcare-associated infections
- Provide expert antimicrobial stewardship guidance across the institution — promoting rational antibiotic prescribing, reducing resistance patterns, and optimizing infectious disease treatment outcomes
- Collaborate with the hospital’s infection control team, microbiology department, and pharmacy to establish robust antimicrobial stewardship frameworks aligned with international best practice standards
- Educate and counsel families comprehensively on disease prevention strategies, age-appropriate vaccination schedules, and the importance of responsible antimicrobial use in the community
Multidisciplinary Collaboration & Consultative Services
- Work in close collaboration with pediatricians, microbiologists, pediatric intensivists, transplant physicians, oncologists, and public health teams — providing expert infectious disease consultation across all relevant clinical settings
- Participate actively in multidisciplinary team meetings, ward rounds, and complex case discussions — contributing specialist infectious disease expertise to improve patient outcomes across the institution
- Support the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU), oncology, and transplant services with timely, expert consultative input on infectious disease management for the most critically ill and complex patients
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with external public health authorities, regional infectious disease networks, and academic institutions to support outbreak management and research activities
Clinical Audit, CME & Research Participation
- Participate actively in clinical audits, quality improvement projects, and peer review activities — contributing to the ongoing elevation of clinical standards and patient safety across the pediatric infectious disease service
- Contribute to Continuing Medical Education (CME) activities — delivering teaching sessions, grand rounds presentations, and case conferences to junior doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals
- Support and participate in infectious disease research activities — contributing to clinical trials, observational studies, and evidence-based publications that advance the field of pediatric infectious disease
- Stay current with developments in pediatric infectious disease, emerging pathogens, new antimicrobial agents, and evolving vaccine recommendations through ongoing CME and professional development activities
