Crop Consultant Position Overview

The Crop Consultant role at Nutrien Ag Solutions in Sunnyside combines agronomy knowledge with direct sales responsibility. You’ll be the trusted point of contact for growers in your assigned territory, building and maintaining customer relationships season after season. Selling the company’s products and services is central to the job, and you’ll manage sales programs across your accounts while working toward annual sales goals. Good consulting depends on good data, so you’ll interpret soil, tissue, and water analysis and turn those results into practical recommendations a grower can act on. Growers bring questions, and you’ll research and respond to technical inquiries with clear, accurate answers. You’ll also help prove what works. Initiating field trials supports the company’s marketing efforts, and publishing periodic summaries of agronomic observations helps the wider team learn from what you see in the field. Staying informed matters as well, so you’ll monitor competitive activity and market trends and keep your knowledge of product features, benefits, and proper use current. When colleagues need help, you’ll provide training, sharing what you know to strengthen the whole team. The work is outdoors and on the road, and it rewards consultants who combine technical depth with genuine care for the people they serve.

As Crop Consultant, you’ll deepen your understanding of crop nutrition, soil health, and the application of agricultural products, while developing the sales and communication skills that define a strong ag retail career. The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree in an agriculturally based program and is familiar with standard agricultural practices and procedures, including the application of agricultural chemicals. Holding a PCA license is required for California-based consultant roles, and a CCA certification is a valuable addition, with the ability to test for the credential also considered. A valid driver’s license is required. For agriculture graduates and experienced ag professionals in the Yakima Valley area, this role offers a clear path into agronomy sales with one of North America’s largest crop input providers.

Why This Role Matters: As Crop Consultant at Nutrien Ag Solutions, you help growers make better decisions about their soil, nutrition, and crop protection, interpret the data that shapes profitable yields, build a loyal customer base in your territory, run field trials that test new solutions, share agronomic insight with colleagues, and grow a career in agronomy sales with a company that feeds the future.
