Position Overview

The Electrical Supervisor at Egis Abu Dhabi plays a mission-critical role in the safe and reliable operation of a nuclear power plant. Reporting within the electrical maintenance function, you will directly supervise teams responsible for the full spectrum of electrical maintenance — from Nuclear Steam Supply System equipment through to Balance of Plant systems. This role demands exceptional technical depth, disciplined safety-first leadership, and the ability to manage complex maintenance activities across transformers, switchgear, protective relays, motors, uninterrupted power supply systems, and more — all in strict compliance with nuclear industry maintenance codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.

Why This Role Matters: As Electrical Supervisor at Egis Abu Dhabi, you are directly responsible for the electrical integrity and operational safety of a nuclear power plant — one of the most technically demanding and consequential roles in the engineering profession. Your leadership, technical expertise, and commitment to safety standards protect the plant, its people, and the communities that depend on its power output every single day.

 Key Responsibilities

Electrical Maintenance Supervision

  • Directly supervise electrical maintenance teams to ensure all tasks are completed on time, to the highest quality, and in full alignment with nuclear safety standards and operational readiness requirements
  • Monitor the performance of Nuclear Steam Supply System electrical equipment including motors, motor generator sets, Reactor Coolant Pump motors, Motor-Operated Valves, crane, and lighting systems
  • Monitor Balance of Plant electrical equipment covering power transformers, Gas Insulated Bus, switchgear, protective relays, main generator sets, diesel generators, uninterrupted power supply systems, and MOVs
  • Conduct structured pre- and post-job briefings and oversee team execution of maintenance tasks to ensure full alignment with established maintenance standards and procedures

Maintenance Planning & Resource Management

  • Ensure proper and timely preparation, staging, and resourcing of electrical maintenance work activities across the plant
  • Submit procurement requests for equipment spare parts and specialist tools to guarantee maintenance activities are appropriately resourced at all times
  • Validate and document equipment history reports following maintenance on all electrical systems, structures, and components
  • Verify and update equipment and material master data within the material management system to ensure accuracy of specifications between the plant and warehouse

Testing, Troubleshooting & Technical Support

  • Oversee and conduct periodic and surveillance tests to confirm efficient plant electrical system performance and identify any deficiencies requiring attention
  • Lead and supervise the troubleshooting process on electrical systems and components to ensure all issues are diagnosed accurately and resolved correctly within required timeframes
  • Support all necessary plant system testing including hot functional tests, power ascension tests, performance tests, and design change testing procedures
  • Provide technical support and knowledge-sharing to other station groups to diffuse electrical expertise throughout the broader organisation

Compliance, Safety & Operational Planning

  • Perform all duties in strict compliance with Maintenance Code of Conduct procedures, guidelines, and expectations to ensure the continuous safety and reliability of the nuclear plant
  • Take out clearances under the necessary maintenance work performed, following nuclear industry protocols for controlled access and safe isolation
  • Implement Operating Experience learnings, training observations, and improvement actions into procedures and programmes to continuously enhance maintenance effectiveness
  • Contribute to the development of departmental systems and processes, identify continuous improvement opportunities, and implement work instructions that increase productivity and operational efficiency

Qualifications & Requirements

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering or a related electrical discipline
  • Additional nuclear industry qualifications, certifications, or licences are a strong advantage

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 7 years of professional experience specifically within the nuclear industry — this is a strict requirement
  • Demonstrated knowledge of nuclear power plant maintenance and planning activities with a clear focus on electrical maintenance oversight and execution
  • Proven experience supervising electrical maintenance teams in a nuclear or high-reliability power generation environment

Essential Skills

  • Deep technical knowledge of nuclear plant electrical systems including NSSS and Balance of Plant equipment
  • Strong understanding of predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance programmes in a nuclear environment
