Position Overview
The Electrical Wiring Supervisor at Emirates Electrical Engineering, Dubai is a technically hands-on and team-leadership-focused site role responsible for the direct supervision of electrical installation activities in substations and on power infrastructure projects. You will direct your team’s daily work programme — from work planning and resource allocation through daily toolbox talks, quality supervision, progress monitoring, and daily report preparation — ensuring that all electrical installation activities are completed safely, correctly, and within scheduled timelines.
This role is for an electrical professional who is equally comfortable on the tools and in front of a team — someone who understands HV substation installation methodology, cable network works, and electrical safety requirements well enough to supervise with genuine technical authority, and who has the interpersonal skills and planning discipline to manage a site team efficiently and professionally. Al Rostamani’s Emirates Electrical Engineering works on some of the UAE’s most demanding power infrastructure projects, and the Electrical Wiring Supervisor is the team leader who makes site delivery possible at the execution level.
Why This Role Matters: The UAE’s power infrastructure — its substations, cable networks, and transmission systems — is the backbone of every home, office, factory, and public facility in the country. The electrical supervisor on a substation project is the professional who ensures that the installation is done correctly, safely, and to specification — because in high-voltage electrical work, a mistake is not just a quality issue, it is a safety incident. The Electrical Wiring Supervisor’s technical authority, safety leadership, and attention to workmanship are the direct link between engineering drawings and a substation that functions safely and reliably for the communities it serves.
Key Responsibilities
Site Supervision & Team Leadership
- Direct and supervise electrical installation activities in substations and power infrastructure projects — providing hands-on technical supervision of all team members’ installation work, ensuring that every task is executed correctly, safely, and in compliance with approved drawings and specifications
- Supervise the work performed by reportees and ensure quality delivery across all electrical installation activities — maintaining a visible, engaged supervisory presence on-site that gives team members clear guidance, immediate feedback, and the technical support they need to deliver work to the required standard
- Be responsible for effective utilisation of manpower, work planning, and progress monitoring — scheduling team activities to maximise productive installation time, minimise idle time, and ensure that daily work targets are consistently achieved within the overall project programme
- Ensure adherence to scheduled completion of work activities — tracking daily progress against the planned work programme, identifying activities that are falling behind schedule, and taking prompt corrective action to maintain programme momentum
BOQ Estimation & Resource Planning
- Estimate BOQ (Bill of Quantities) for electrical and mechanical materials required to carry out site installation activities — accurately quantifying material requirements based on installation drawings, scope of work, and site conditions to support effective procurement and budget management
- Ensure proper distribution of manpower and material resources across active work fronts — allocating team members and materials to maximise installation efficiency, eliminate bottlenecks, and effectively optimise the use of the allocated project budget
- Manage hand tools, machines, and equipment required for electrical installation work — ensuring all tools are available, in serviceable condition, correctly operated, and properly maintained so that team productivity and site safety are never compromised by equipment issues
- Provide appropriate work inputs and assistance to senior supervisors during planning and review meetings — contributing site-level knowledge of installation conditions, team capacity, and material availability to support accurate project planning and scheduling decisions
Safety Leadership & Daily Toolbox Talks
- Conduct daily toolbox talks with the team before start of work — covering the specific work procedures and activities planned for the day, the tools and equipment to be used, how to respond to potential hazardous situations, and the applicable safety procedures and precautions for each task
- Ensure general rules of safety are applied at all times across the work site — maintaining a consistent, non-negotiable safety culture within the team where safe working practices are standard operating procedure, not optional additions to the work plan
- Identify and address safety risks, unsafe work practices, and hazardous conditions on-site — intervening immediately when safety standards are not being followed, reporting incidents and near-misses through proper channels, and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence
Documentation, Drawing Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure proper installation drawings are used during site execution and that any changes, deviations, or site modifications are accurately documented and updated on the working drawings — maintaining the drawing register that gives project management and design teams accurate visibility of as-built installation status
- Prepare accurate daily progress reports — documenting completed installation activities, manpower deployed, materials consumed, issues encountered, and planned work for the following day, providing project management with the site-level information needed for overall programme management
- Ensure proper documentation of all site installation activities — maintaining the quality and safety records that support project commissioning, client handover, and compliance with applicable UAE electrical authority and site safety requirements
Job Requirements & Qualifications
Academic Qualification
- Vocational or Advanced Vocational Diploma in Electrical Engineering from a reputed institution — mandatory for this position; candidates should hold a recognised electrical qualification that demonstrates the technical foundation required for HV substation installation supervision
Work Experience
- Minimum 5 years of prior work experience in a power distribution/transmission company — with direct involvement in electrical installation activities on HV substations, cable networks, or transmission lines; general electrical maintenance experience does not satisfy this requirement
- At least 1–2 years of supervisory experience managing an electrical installation manpower team on-site — with demonstrable responsibility for team safety, quality of work, daily progress, and resource allocation
- Experience in electrical installation — with hands-on knowledge of substation installation techniques, cable laying and termination, equipment erection, and the construction sequencing applicable to HV electrical infrastructure projects
- Knowledge of hand tools and machines required to perform electrical installation work effectively — including the proper selection, use, and care of the specific tools and equipment used in power distribution and substation construction
Functional Skills
- Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words — essential for receiving and accurately interpreting technical instructions, safety briefings, and project direction from engineering and management teams
- Ability to communicate information and ideas clearly in spoken language so team members will understand — the supervisory communication skill that enables effective daily work direction, safety briefings, and team coordination across a multilingual site workforce
- Knowledge of machines and tools required for electrical installation — demonstrating the practical technical competency expected of a supervisor who leads a team performing hands-on power infrastructure installation work
