IFFCO Beverage Solutions, a leading player in the GCC food and beverage industry, is seeking a dynamic Executive – Product Innovation to join our New Product Development (NPD) team. This exciting role offers hands-on involvement in developing innovative beverage products from concept to commercial launch while working with cutting-edge food technology and global F&B trends.
Position Summary – Executive Product Innovation
The Junior Manager/Executive – Product Innovation (NPD) is responsible for ensuring development of new products while working closely with the Head of New Product Development. The role involves executing all research and development activities independently or under supervision, focusing on beverage innovation, process optimization, and commercial scale-up across IFFCO’s beverage portfolio.
This position combines technical expertise in food technology with creative innovation capabilities to develop market-leading beverage products that meet consumer needs, quality standards, and commercial objectives in the competitive GCC marketplace.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
New Product Development & Innovation:
- Responsible for developing new beverage products and improving existing formulations from initial concept stage through commercialization and market launch
- Conduct product ideation, formulation development, sensory evaluation, and prototype creation for innovative beverage solutions
- Translate consumer insights and market trends into viable product concepts aligned with IFFCO’s strategic objectives
- Execute bench-scale trials, pilot production, and optimization studies for new product formulations
Scale-Up & Manufacturing Support:
- Ensure successful scaling up of New Product Developments by collaborating with internal manufacturing plants and external co-packers
- Work closely with production teams to transfer laboratory formulations to commercial manufacturing scale
- Provide technical support during trial production runs, addressing formulation challenges and process adjustments
- Conduct factory trials, monitor production parameters, and ensure product quality consistency during scale-up
Process Development & Optimization:
- Ensure comprehensive process development and optimization activities in manufacturing plants for new and existing products
- Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs), process flow diagrams, and manufacturing instructions for new products
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, efficiency enhancements, and cost optimization in production
- Troubleshoot production issues related to formulation, processing parameters, or quality deviations
Shelf Life & Quality Studies:
- Conduct pre-launch storage studies and comprehensive shelf-life evaluation of new beverage products under various conditions
- Design and execute stability studies, accelerated shelf-life testing, and quality degradation assessments
- Monitor physical, chemical, microbiological, and sensory parameters throughout shelf-life studies
- Determine optimal storage conditions, packaging requirements, and product expiration dating
Supplier & Ingredient Management:
- Search for and evaluate new suppliers to source innovative ingredients, raw materials (RM), and packaging materials (PM) that complement existing product portfolio
- Conduct supplier assessments, ingredient trials, and technical evaluations of new materials
- Develop RM and PM specifications including quality parameters, acceptance criteria, and testing protocols
- Provide recommendations on packaging material selection based on product compatibility, functionality, and cost-effectiveness
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Liaise effectively between production teams, marketing department, and quality assurance to develop products that meet desired specifications at acceptable quality standards
- Collaborate with Supply Chain and Manufacturing teams to ensure smooth product launches and ongoing production support
- Work with marketing on product positioning, claims validation, and technical support for promotional materials
- Partner with QA/QC teams to ensure regulatory compliance and quality requirements are met
Documentation & System Management:
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of product development activities, trial results, and technical specifications
- Execute online modification of recipes, routing procedures, and formulas in ORACLE ERP system
- Prepare and maintain Certificates of Analysis (COA) and specification sheets for new ingredients during initial development stages
- Document product development timelines, project status reports, and technical summaries for management review
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- NPD Pipeline Management: Execute New Product Development projects from ideation through successful commercialization within timeline and budget
- Trend Analysis & Concept Creation: Assimilate global and regional trends in Food & Beverage industry; create innovative concepts aligned with market opportunities
- Commercial Scale-Up Success: Successfully scale up R&D product designs into commercial production by working closely with Supply Chain and Manufacturing teams
- Process Optimization: Ensure optimum and consistent manufacturing processes in production plants to guarantee high-quality outputs and minimize variations
- Recipe Optimization & Value Engineering: Drive cost optimization through recipe reformulation, ingredient substitution, and process efficiency improvements
Required Qualifications & Experience
Educational Background:
- Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Dairy Technology, Food Technology, Food Science, Food Engineering, or closely related discipline from recognized university
- Strong academic foundation in food chemistry, food processing, dairy technology, and beverage technology
Work Experience:
- 3 to 5 years of proven hands-on experience in New Product Development, R&D, or food/beverage innovation roles
- Demonstrated experience in beverage formulation, product development, and commercialization projects
- Experience working with manufacturing plants, scale-up activities, and production support
- Practical knowledge of laboratory techniques, pilot trials, and sensory evaluation
