Position Overview

This Global Principal Electrical Design Engineer — Data Center Segment at Eaton in Dubai acts as global subject matter expert and technical authority for electrical systems within Eaton’s Data Centre portfolio, leads and supports the design of complex electrical infrastructure for hyperscale and enterprise data centers from concept through execution, provides expert guidance on MV and LV distribution, transformers, UPS architecture, protection and coordination, grounding, and system resilience strategies, develops and governs global electrical design standards and reference architectures, ensures design alignment with NEC, NFPA, IEEE, UL, and IEC standards, performs peer reviews across regions, serves as final escalation for complex electrical design challenges, supports bids and proposals, represents Eaton in client-facing design reviews, leads value engineering initiatives, evaluates emerging AI/HPC-driven electrical architectures, and mentors electrical engineering capability across global teams.

Key Responsibilities

Global Electrical Design Authority & Hyperscale Project Leadership

  • Act as Eaton’s global subject matter expert and technical authority for electrical systems within the Data Centre portfolio — providing expert guidance on MV and LV distribution, transformers, UPS architecture, protection and coordination, grounding, and system resilience strategies for hyperscale and enterprise data centers worldwide
  • Lead and support the design of complex electrical infrastructure for hyperscale and enterprise data centers from concept through execution — applying deep technical expertise at every phase from early feasibility and concept development through detailed design, construction, and project closeout
  • Serve as the final escalation point for complex or high-risk electrical design challenges — applying the deepest available electrical engineering judgment to resolve technical, commercial, and execution issues that cannot be resolved at lower organisational levels
  • Support bids, proposals, and execution phases by providing advanced electrical engineering expertise — contributing the technical authority and credibility that positions Eaton effectively in competitive hyperscale and enterprise data center opportunities

Global Standards Governance, Design Quality & Peer Review

  • Develop, implement, and govern global electrical design standards, reference architectures, and quality frameworks — establishing the engineering baseline that all Eaton Data Center Segment projects worldwide are designed and delivered against
  • Ensure all designs align with North American electrical codes (NEC, NFPA, IEEE, UL) and applicable IEC and international standards — with the breadth and depth to apply the correct standard across diverse global project jurisdictions
  • Perform peer reviews and technical validation of electrical engineering deliverables across global regions — ensuring consistency, compliance, and technical rigour from concept designs through construction-issue packages
  • Participate in global site visits to assess electrical installations, construction quality, and commissioning readiness — providing hands-on technical authority at the most critical points in the project execution lifecycle

Value Engineering, AI/HPC Innovation & Knowledge Leadership

  • Lead value engineering initiatives to optimise cost, performance, reliability, and constructability while maintaining system resilience — identifying design efficiency opportunities without compromising the uptime and safety standards that mission-critical clients require
  • Evaluate and integrate emerging electrical technologies and architectures — including responses to rapidly increasing AI and HPC power densities that are fundamentally changing the electrical infrastructure requirements of hyperscale data center design
  • Mentor and support the development of electrical engineering capability across Eaton’s global teams — promoting best practices, technical rigour, and consistent electrical design methodologies across regions and business units
  • Represent Eaton as a senior technical authority in internal and client-facing meetings, workshops, and design reviews — influencing client electrical design decisions and reinforcing Eaton’s position as the global data center power management leader

Qualifications & Experience

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution
  • 10+ years of electrical engineering experience with significant exposure to mission-critical facilities and data center environments — hyperscale and enterprise data center design preferred
  • Deep expertise in MV/LV distribution systems, UPS architectures, transformers, grounding, protection schemes, and system coordination — at the technical depth required to serve as a global design authority
  • Strong working knowledge of North American electrical codes (NEC, NFPA, IEEE, UL) and IEC international standards — with the breadth to apply and reconcile multiple standards across global project jurisdictions
  • Demonstrated ability to operate as a senior technical authority within global, matrixed organisations — influencing senior stakeholders, clients, and multidisciplinary engineering teams
  • Proven capability in programme management, change management, and governance across global or matrixed organisations
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally as required — for global site visits, client meetings, and design reviews
