Position Overview

The Grain Storage Manager at Perdue AgriBusiness in Hurlock, Maryland provides both strategic and hands-on leadership across all grain storage facility operations. You will lead and develop facility personnel responsible for receiving, drying, storing, and distributing grain; champion safety and environmental compliance programs in line with Federal, State, and local regulations; administer an effective Inventory Control Program compliant with USDA, FDA, and Perdue requirements; coordinate preventative and routine equipment maintenance; identify capital improvement opportunities; coordinate with grain merchandising teams on customer relationships and grain movement; and use data-driven insights to plan forecasts, manage costs, and guide annual budgets — all in service of Perdue AgriBusiness’s commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Facility Team Leadership & Development

• Lead, direct, and develop all facility personnel involved in grain receiving, drying, storing, and distributing — including hiring, onboarding, training, and ongoing professional development to meet the current and future needs of the facility
• Build a high-performance, safety-first team culture rooted in Perdue’s values of teamwork, integrity, and respect — where every associate feels valued, heard, and empowered to contribute to shared operational goals
• Provide consistent performance feedback, coaching, and support to facility team members — developing supervisory capability and succession depth within the grain operations team

Safety & Environmental Compliance Leadership

• Develop, lead, and administer an effective and proactive safety program that provides a safe working environment for all associates — in full compliance with Federal, State, and Local OSHA regulations and Perdue AgriBusiness safety requirements
• Develop, lead, and administer a comprehensive environmental compliance program to prevent environmental incidents — ensuring full adherence to all applicable Federal, State, and Local environmental regulations and Perdue AgriBusiness standards
• Promote a proactive safety culture where hazard identification, near-miss reporting, and corrective action are embedded in daily operations — not just reactive compliance

Inventory Control & Regulatory Compliance

• Administer an effective Inventory Control Program to maintain both the quality and quantity of grain inventory handled at the facility — ensuring full compliance with USDA Warehousing regulations, FDA requirements, and Perdue Grain & Oilseed LLC standards
• Ensure all grain receiving, storage, and distribution activities are accurately documented and traceable — supporting regulatory audits and customer assurance requirements at all times
• Monitor inventory levels, track quality parameters, and implement corrective actions when deviations from specification or regulatory standards are identified

Equipment Maintenance & Capital Planning

• Ensure routine and preventative maintenance is consistently performed on all grain facility equipment — including grain dryers, conveyors, elevators, and storage systems — to maximize availability, operating efficiency, and equipment longevity
• Identify opportunities, synergies, and process improvements to increase facility operating effectiveness and reduce operational costs — including the development and execution of capital improvement plans according to approved budgets and project timelines
• Use data-driven insights to plan operational forecasts, manage costs proactively, and guide the development of accurate annual facility budgets aligned with Perdue AgriBusiness targets

Customer Service & Grain Merchandising Coordination

• Ensure consistent service and equity of grades is delivered to both internal and external grain customers — maintaining the quality standards and reliability that define Perdue AgriBusiness’s reputation in the agricultural commodities market
• Coordinate effectively with grain merchandising teams to maintain positive customer relationships and develop efficient plans for the timely and least-cost movement of grain through the facility
• Perform additional tasks as directed by the supervisor — contributing to broader AgriBusiness operational objectives beyond the immediate facility scope when required

Qualifications & Requirements

Educational Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Logistics, Business, or a closely related field — OR in lieu of a bachelor’s degree, 5–7 years of direct grain operations experience will be accepted as an equivalent qualification

Experience Requirements

• 3–5 years of related grain operations experience — with a minimum of 1–2 years of supervisory experience in a grain facility, agricultural operations, or closely related environment
• Solid knowledge of grain receiving and storage technologies — including grain dryers, conveyors, elevators, and associated facility equipment
• Working knowledge of Federal and State environmental regulations and Federal and State OSHA regulations applicable to grain storage and agricultural facilities

Key Skills & Physical Requirements

• Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills — able to lead diverse facility teams and communicate effectively with customers, merchandising partners, and senior management
• Strong math, organizational, and analytical skills for budget management, inventory control, and data-driven operational decision-making
• Proficiency in standard software applications (MS Office or equivalent) for reporting, scheduling, and operational data management
• Physically able to move freely throughout AgriBusiness facilities — including climbing vertical heights of 0–150 feet, carrying tools and equipment up to 50 pounds, and working in varying temperature (0–100°F), humidity, and noise conditions
• Ability to wear protective equipment including self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) as required by facility safety protocols
• Willing and able to travel to remote AgriBusiness facilities and customer locations as required by operational needs
