Position Overview
The Infection Control Practitioner at M42’s Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed Hospital is a clinically critical role responsible for the full lifecycle of infection prevention and control — from surveillance and trend analysis to staff education and outbreak response. You will ensure the hospital’s IPC program meets all DOH and JCI regulatory and accreditation requirements, reduce healthcare-associated infections through evidence-based practices, and work hand-in-hand with clinical leadership to continuously improve patient safety outcomes across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
Infection Surveillance & Reporting
- Monitor, investigate, and report healthcare-associated infections in full accordance with DOH and JCI standards
- Conduct ongoing surveillance activities, analyze infection trends, and support timely corrective and preventive action implementation
- Prepare detailed IPC reports for clinical leadership and quality management teams with actionable recommendations
Infection Prevention Best Practices
- Provide clinical expertise on isolation precautions, device-associated infection reduction strategies, and environmental hygiene protocols
- Oversee sterilization practices and ensure all decontamination processes meet regulatory and accreditation requirements
- Lead outbreak response planning and real-time management when infection incidents occur within the facility
Staff Education & Competency Development
- Facilitate comprehensive staff education programs to promote adherence to infection prevention and control protocols
- Assess clinical and non-clinical staff competency in IPC practices and develop targeted training to address gaps
- Build a strong culture of infection awareness and personal protective practice across all hospital departments
Clinical & Leadership Collaboration
- Partner with clinical and facility leadership to evaluate infection risks and support departmental IPC audits
- Drive continuous improvement in infection control performance across all hospital units and service areas
- Collaborate with the quality team to ensure IPC findings are integrated into hospital-wide safety improvement plans
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Epidemiology, Microbiology, Medical Technology, Public Health, or another healthcare science field
- Master’s degree in Nursing or a health-related field is preferred for senior applicants
Experience Requirements
- Minimum three years of experience in Infection Control and Prevention in any patient care environment
- Minimum two years of direct patient care experience in a clinical setting
Certification & Licensing
- Certification in Infection Control (CIC) is required for this position
- DOH or DHA nursing license is strongly preferred — candidates with active UAE licensure will be prioritized
