Key Responsibilities
Irrigation System Installation & Maintenance
- Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain irrigation systems using a wide variety of hand tools and power tools — ensuring optimal water distribution across all assigned landscape environments.
- Conduct regular, systematic inspections of all irrigation system components — identifying and diagnosing leaks, clogs, pressure issues, malfunctioning heads, or controller failures promptly and accurately.
- Adjust watering schedules and system controller settings based on seasonal requirements, weather conditions, plant species needs, and overall landscape water management objectives.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of all work performed — including system inspections, repairs, adjustments, component replacements, and maintenance schedules for each assigned property.

- Perform excavation work using excavators and other construction machinery for irrigation pipe installation, system repair, and below-grade infrastructure maintenance projects where required.
- Test repaired irrigation systems thoroughly after completion — verifying coverage patterns, pressure balance, controller programming, and absence of leaks before finalising any maintenance visit.
Landscape Maintenance & Horticulture
- Perform comprehensive routine landscape maintenance tasks including mowing, trimming, edging, fertilising, and weed control — maintaining outdoor spaces to a consistently high visual and horticultural standard.
- Apply horticultural principles to promote healthy plant growth, optimise soil health, and maintain landscape aesthetics across a diverse range of plant species, turf areas, and garden environments.
- Identify plant health issues, pest or disease problems, and environmental stress indicators — recommending and implementing appropriate horticultural interventions to restore and maintain plant vitality.

Equipment Operation & Safety
- Operate excavators and other construction machinery safely and competently for irrigation installation, pipe laying, and repair excavation projects as required across different job sites.
- Ensure all hand tools, power tools, and machinery are operated, maintained, and stored safely and in full compliance with workplace safety requirements and manufacturer guidelines.
- Perform pre-use equipment checks and report any equipment faults, safety hazards, or maintenance requirements promptly to the appropriate supervisor or equipment manager.
- Work safely in varying outdoor weather conditions — applying appropriate PPE, sun protection, hydration protocols, and weather awareness to maintain personal safety throughout each working day.
Record Keeping & Team Communication
- Maintain thorough, accurate daily records of work completed — including irrigation system adjustments, plant care activities, equipment usage, and any issues identified during site visits.
- Communicate site findings, system status updates, and maintenance recommendations clearly to supervisors and clients — supporting informed landscape management decision-making through professional reporting.
- Collaborate effectively with fellow team members on multi-person projects — sharing knowledge, supporting peers, and contributing to a positive, high-performing outdoor work team culture.
