Position Overview
This Lead Project Engineer role provides engineering support for retrofit control systems under the overall management of the project manager, with accountability for project deliverables, customer CTQ compliance, on-time schedule execution, and team performance. You will apply electrical and mechanical engineering principles to analyze, propose, design, test, and troubleshoot control systems, while leading the project team to achieve business KPIs and ensure conformance to design practices and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
Project Engineering Leadership
- Provide engineering support for retrofit control systems under project manager oversight
- Be accountable for project deliverables, customer CTQ compliance, and on-time schedule execution
- Lead the project team to achieve business KPIs and on-time execution of deliverables
- Own Project Engineering hours budgets and assign them to project teams
- Own Project Milestone schedules and ensure all deliverables are provided on schedule
Technical Design & Analysis
- Apply electrical and mechanical engineering principles to analyze, propose, design, test, and troubleshoot control systems
- Design systems for interface to existing turbine control equipment, evaluating components, requirements, and interactions
- Coordinate technical design reviews and ensure all required documentation is archived
- Apply knowledge of industry practices and international standards for high-quality, cost-effective designs
Compliance, Mentoring & Customer Engagement
- Ensure regulatory compliance of deliverables and review contract documentation for technical impact
- Provide mentoring, direction, and leadership to team members
- Support customer meetings, factory acceptance testing, installation, and commissioning of control systems
- Frequently interact with customers and suppliers, resolving technical issues related to power plant operations
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related disciplines, or equivalent experience
Experience Requirements
- At least 6 years of experience with turbine-generator control systems for Gas Turbines, Steam Turbines, and Excitation Controls
- Knowledge and experience with electrical and mechanical control systems
- Ability to support multiple projects simultaneously in a matrix management environment
Essential Skills
- Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal
- Willingness to travel 15-20%, domestically and internationally
Desired Characteristics
- Familiarity with Non-GE turbines or Non-GE control systems, including ALSTOM Steam Turbines and Compressor Controls
- Experience on MarkV, MarkVI, MarkVIe, and EX2100e Systems
- Familiarity with GE HMIs, networking, and cyber solutions, plus the ControlST software suite
- Knowledge of DCS communication methods such as MODBUS
- Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM field; Green Belt certification or other lean training is a plus
- Fluency in Arabic is an advantage
