The primary purpose of this position is to perform routine and specialized laboratory tests in full accordance with professional standards, UAE healthcare regulatory guidelines, and Mediclinic’s internal quality management protocols. This is not simply a technical role — it is a professional healthcare career position that carries direct responsibility for the accuracy, reliability, and timeliness of diagnostic results that inform critical clinical decisions made by physicians and specialists caring for patients every day.

The successful candidate will be responsible for processing a broad and clinically significant range of laboratory test categories including clinical chemistry, immunology and serology, autoimmune markers, haematology, coagulation studies, blood transfusion procedures, and clinical microscopy. You will conduct analysis of body fluids, blood specimens, urine, and spinal fluid — verifying results for accuracy before release and contributing actively to laboratory quality improvement initiatives that protect patient safety and ensure compliance governance.

Beyond technical testing duties, this Medical Laboratory Technologist role requires a proactive professional who contributes to training and health and safety initiatives, operates and maintains laboratory analysers and equipment according to manufacturer guidelines, and actively participates in the quality improvement processes that keep Mediclinic Airport Road Hospital at the forefront of private healthcare delivery in Abu Dhabi. If you are an experienced, detail-oriented medical laboratory professional with a passion for diagnostic precision and patient safety, this is your opportunity to join one of the UAE’s most respected hospital laboratory teams.

Why This Role Matters: As a Medical Laboratory Technologist at Mediclinic Airport Road Hospital, you directly contribute to patient safety and diagnostic excellence at one of Abu Dhabi’s premier private healthcare facilities, work across a broad and clinically rich range of laboratory disciplines including chemistry, haematology, immunology, PCR, and blood transfusion, grow your career within the internationally respected Mediclinic Middle East family, work in a supportive and professionally governed UAE healthcare environment, and join a team where your technical expertise translates directly into improved patient outcomes every single day.

Key Responsibility Areas

Routine Laboratory Testing & Sample Management

  • Perform all routine laboratory tests according to established professional standards, Mediclinic clinical guidelines, and UAE Department of Health regulatory requirements
  • Monitor comprehensive sample management processes including accurate sorting, prioritization, and allocation of specimens based on specific testing requirements and clinical urgency
  • Ensure all specimens are handled, processed, and stored correctly to maintain sample integrity and guarantee the reliability of all analytical results
  • Apply strict chain-of-custody and sample identification protocols to prevent specimen mix-ups and protect patient safety throughout the testing process

Multi-Discipline Laboratory Testing

  • Process and perform clinical chemistry tests including metabolic panels, enzyme assays, lipid profiles, hormones, therapeutic drug monitoring, and specialized biochemistry analyses
  • Conduct immunology, serology, and autoimmune testing — including antibody detection, autoimmune markers, infectious disease serology, and immunoassay-based diagnostic procedures
  • Perform full haematology testing including complete blood counts, differential white cell counts, reticulocyte analysis, and morphological assessment of blood films
  • Execute coagulation studies including PT, APTT, INR, fibrinogen, D-dimer, and specialized coagulation factor assays to support anticoagulation management and bleeding disorder diagnosis
  • Carry out blood transfusion laboratory procedures including blood grouping, antibody screening, cross-matching, and direct antiglobulin testing in full compliance with blood bank safety standards

Body Fluid Analysis & Result Verification

  • Conduct thorough analytical examination of body fluids, blood specimens, urine, and spinal fluid using appropriate laboratory methodologies and validated testing platforms
  • Perform rigorous result analysis and verification — applying clinical and analytical judgment to confirm the accuracy and reliability of all findings before authorizing result release
  • Flag, investigate, and resolve any critical values, analytical discrepancies, or unexpected results — escalating clinically significant findings to the laboratory supervisor and treating clinicians in a timely manner
  • Maintain comprehensive and accurate documentation of all analytical results, quality control data, and result verification records within the Laboratory Information System (LIS)

Quality Improvement & Patient Safety

  • Actively contribute to relevant laboratory quality improvement initiatives aimed at mitigating risks, strengthening compliance governance, and enhancing patient safety across all testing areas
  • Participate in internal quality control programs, external proficiency testing schemes, and accreditation preparation activities to maintain the laboratory’s high standards of analytical performance
  • Identify and report near-misses, non-conformances, and quality deviations — supporting root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventive actions
  • Support the laboratory’s compliance with international accreditation standards including CAP, ISO 15189, and Joint Commission International (JCI) requirements

Training, Health & Safety

  • Actively contribute to and guide, where appropriate, relevant training initiatives for laboratory staff — sharing technical expertise and supporting competency development across the team
  • Participate in laboratory health and safety programs including chemical safety, biological containment protocols, personal protective equipment compliance, and sharps injury prevention
