Position Overview
The Microbiologist at Nestlé Madina is a full-time, laboratory-based quality control role responsible for performing and documenting microbiological testing on raw materials, semi-finished and finished products, and purified water — in accordance with Nestlé’s established standard operating procedures and approved protocols. This professional prepares standards, solutions, reagents, media and samples; accurately records observations; performs data reviews; releases inspection lots in the material management system; operates and maintains laboratory instruments; leads continuous improvement initiatives using lean principles; handles quality deviation reporting; and adheres strictly to Nestlé SHE rules and procedures at all times — contributing to the highest standards of product quality and consumer safety across Nestlé’s Madina manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities
Microbiological Testing & Laboratory Analysis
- Perform and document in-house microbiological testing on raw materials, semi-finished and finished products in full accordance with Nestlé’s established standard operating procedures (SOPs) and approved testing protocols — maintaining the highest standards of analytical accuracy and reproducibility.
- Prepare all necessary standards, solutions, reagents, culture media and samples required for microbiological sample analysis — ensuring all materials are correctly prepared, quality-checked and available to support uninterrupted QC testing operations.
- Perform quality control microbiology testing of purified water and environmental monitoring samples — providing timely, accurate results that support ongoing facility hygiene management and regulatory compliance at the Madina facility.
- Accurately record all observations from testing activities — performing data reviews, verifying results against specifications and releasing inspection lots in Nestlé’s material management system in compliance with QMS documentation requirements.
Instrument Operation, Maintenance & Continuous Improvement
- Operate and maintain all assigned laboratory instruments — ensuring the reliability and accuracy of instrumentation through proper daily maintenance routines, scheduled calibration activities and the ability to troubleshoot minor instrument issues independently.
- Participate in and lead continuous improvement initiatives using lean principles — contributing actively to streamlining laboratory workflows, improving testing efficiency and eliminating waste in laboratory processes.
- Report all abnormalities and quality deviations via Nestlé’s notification system — taking immediate corrective actions within scope and escalating to quality management when deviations require broader investigation or corrective action planning.
Documentation, Reporting & SHE Compliance
- Handle all laboratory paperwork and reports accurately and completely — including check receiving reports, testing records, deviation notifications and quality documentation in accordance with Nestlé’s QMS standards and applicable Saudi food safety regulatory requirements.
- Prepare check receiving reports according to the accurate specifications for incoming raw materials and other laboratory inputs — ensuring all receipts are correctly documented before materials enter the production or testing process.
- Adhere strictly to Nestlé’s SHE (Safety, Health and Environment) rules and procedures at all times during working hours — ensuring personal safety and the safety of all co-workers in the Madina laboratory environment through disciplined SHE compliance.
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology or a related scientific field — mandatory educational requirement for this Nestlé Microbiologist position in Madina, Saudi Arabia.
- Strong foundational knowledge of microbiological laboratory principles, testing methods, GMP standards, SOP compliance and food safety microbiology relevant to FMCG manufacturing environments.
Experience Requirements
- More than 1 year of experience in a Microbiologist or equivalent laboratory quality control role — demonstrating practical laboratory testing, documentation and instrument operation capability in a food, FMCG or pharmaceutical manufacturing context.
- Proficiency in relevant computer applications including MS Office — required for maintaining accurate laboratory records, data entry, report preparation and material management system lot releases.
