Product Design & Development Manager Jobs Dubai UAE 2026

A fast-growing consumer product brand in Dubai is seeking a talented and commercially minded Product Design & Development Manager — someone who can turn ideas into physical products that customers genuinely want to buy. This is not a graphic design role. The organisation needs someone with a strong design eye who also understands product development, materials, packaging, suppliers, sampling, costing, and production — owning products from initial concept through design, sampling, and development to the final market-ready product across categories including beauty, jewellery, accessories, gifting, and tween/teen lifestyle products. Ideal candidates bring 4–6 years of relevant product design and development experience, a strong portfolio of physical products personally developed or launched, and the commercial instinct to work backwards from target selling price to an achievable cost.

About This Product Design & Development Manager Opportunity — Dubai UAE

Role: Product Design & Development Manager — owning the complete product lifecycle from initial idea through concept, design, supplier brief, sampling, revision, costing, approval, and production across beauty, jewellery, accessories, gifting, and tween/teen lifestyle categories

Not Graphic Design: This role requires someone who combines strong aesthetic design sensibility with deep product development knowledge — materials, manufacturing, supplier management, packaging, costing, and the commercial instinct to recognise when a design idea is attractive but commercially unviable

Supplier Relationships: Direct work with suppliers and factories in China, India, and other manufacturing hubs — with willingness to travel to manufacturing locations for supplier and factory meetings

Categories: Beauty, jewellery, accessories, gifting, tween/teen lifestyle products, and other consumer products — candidates from any of these sectors welcome based on what they have actually created and launched

Why This Product Design & Development Manager Role Stands Out

Full Product Ownership — Idea to Shelf: Own the complete product development process from concept ideation through supplier briefing, sampling, revision management, costing approval, and production — genuine end-to-end product accountability with direct commercial impact on the brand’s range

Founder-Level Collaboration: Work directly with the Founder/Managing Director — contributing to strategic product direction at the highest level of the organisation, with real influence over the brand’s product portfolio and commercial positioning in the market

Multi-Category Creative & Commercial Scope: Beauty, jewellery, accessories, gifting, and tween/teen lifestyle — a genuinely diverse product development remit that develops broad consumer product expertise across categories with strong global trend momentum

Travel & International Supplier Engagement: Travel to manufacturing hubs in China, India, and beyond — building direct supplier relationships and hands-on manufacturing knowledge that most office-based product managers never develop

Position Overview — Product Design & Development Manager

This Product Design & Development Manager in Dubai translates product ideas and brand direction into commercially viable products — developing concepts, mood boards, colour palettes, materials, finishes, and product details; researching global product, design, beauty, jewellery, fashion, and youth trends; owning the complete development process from idea through supplier brief, sample, revision, costing, and production approval; developing packaging alongside the product; working directly with suppliers and factories in China, India, and other manufacturing hubs; understanding target retail prices and required margins before development begins; working backwards from target selling price to achievable cost; and working cross-functionally with the Founder/MD, brand, buying, marketing, e-commerce, sales, operations, and graphic designers to ensure every product is commercially viable, trend-relevant, and ready for market.

Why This Role Matters: As Product Design & Development Manager for this Dubai consumer brand, you are the person who determines whether an exciting product concept actually becomes a product that sells — and whether it sells profitably. When you look at a jewellery sample and immediately identify that the clasp mechanism will fail at the price point the costing requires, your packaging concept correctly anticipates that the box dimensions will drive up shipping cost per unit enough to kill the margin at the target retail price before production is approved, or your trend research identifies a tween beauty format three months before it starts appearing in every Sephora and Superdrug window — you are not performing a creative function. You are performing a commercial function with creative tools. The brand’s ability to launch products that are genuinely desirable, appropriately priced, consistently well-made, and delivered on time depends on someone who holds the creative vision and the commercial discipline in the same hands. That is what a truly exceptional Product Design & Development Manager does — and why this Dubai role requires someone who gets things finished.

Key Responsibilities

Product Concept, Design & Trend Research

  • Translate product ideas and brand direction into commercially viable products — developing concepts, mood boards, colour palettes, materials, finishes, and product details that balance aesthetic desirability with production feasibility and commercial margin requirements
  • Research global product, design, beauty, jewellery, fashion, and youth trends — identifying new product opportunities proactively rather than simply executing briefs, and ensuring every product feels relevant to the target consumer and consistent with the brand’s visual and commercial identity
  • Continuously monitor global beauty, jewellery, accessories, tween/teen culture, gifting, packaging, social-media-driven trends, retail innovation, and emerging brands — translating trend intelligence into concrete product development opportunities for the brand’s seasonal ranges
  • Ensure every product feels relevant to the target consumer — whether beauty, jewellery, accessories, gifting, or tween/teen lifestyle — maintaining the design integrity and commercial relevance that turns good product ideas into genuinely sellable ranges

Product Development — Full Lifecycle from Idea to Production

  • Own the complete product development process: Idea → Concept → Design → Supplier Brief → Sample → Revision → Costing → Approval → Production — managing every stage with the attention to detail, timeline discipline, and commercial judgement that brings products to market on schedule and on margin
  • Create detailed product specifications and supplier briefs — producing the precise, unambiguous technical documentation that gives manufacturers everything they need to produce a sample that accurately reflects the design intent, without requiring multiple rounds of clarification
  • Review samples critically and manage revisions — assessing dimensions, materials, colours, finishes, and construction quality against the approved specification, and communicating revision requirements to suppliers with the clarity and authority that drives prompt and accurate correction
  • Ensure the final manufactured product accurately reflects the approved design — maintaining design integrity and quality standards from the approved sample through to the production run, with the follow-through discipline to catch production deviations before they reach the consumer

Packaging, Costing & Commercial Product Decisions

  • Develop packaging concepts alongside the product — ensuring packaging looks premium while remaining commercially sensible, considering materials, dimensions, cost, shipping efficiency, and retail display impact in a single integrated development process
  • Work with graphic designers on artwork, typography, and brand elements — providing clear creative direction and reviewing packaging samples against approved artwork to ensure the final production specification meets both brand standards and commercial cost targets
  • Understand target retail prices and required margins before development begins — working backwards from the target selling price to an achievable factory cost, comparing materials and manufacturing alternatives, and identifying unnecessary cost without compromising the product’s commercial appeal or quality
  • Recognise when a design idea is attractive but commercially unviable — making the commercially courageous decision to redirect or reject a product direction when cost, material, or production realities make the target margin unachievable without compromising the product quality or brand standards

Supplier Management, Factory Engagement & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work directly with suppliers and factories in China, India, and other manufacturing hubs — travelling to manufacturing locations to meet suppliers and factories in person, building the direct relationships and on-the-ground manufacturing knowledge that enables faster problem-solving and better product outcomes
  • Source new suppliers and manufacturing capabilities when required — proactively identifying alternative or specialist manufacturers when existing supplier capabilities are insufficient for new product development requirements
  • Challenge suppliers when quality, design, or execution is not good enough — solving development problems quickly rather than accepting supplier limitations as the final answer, with the technical knowledge and supplier management confidence to demand better outcomes
  • Work closely with the Founder/Managing Director, brand, buying, marketing, e-commerce, sales, operations, and graphic designers — ensuring all internal teams understand the product story, key selling points, and design details before launch

Qualifications & Experience Profile

Essential Requirements

  • 4–6 years of relevant product design and development experience — with a strong portfolio of physical products personally developed or launched as the primary evidence of capability (what you have created matters more than the industry title on your CV)
  • Excellent understanding of product design, materials, manufacturing, and packaging — including the technical knowledge to assess material suitability, manufacturing process feasibility, and packaging performance before a supplier brief is issued
  • Experience dealing directly with factories and suppliers — including in China, India, or other manufacturing hubs — with willingness to travel to manufacturing locations for in-person supplier and factory engagement
  • Experience managing sampling and product revisions — with the critical eye, specification clarity, and supplier management authority to drive revisions to a successful conclusion without excessive sampling rounds
  • Understanding of costing, margins, and target retail prices — with the commercial instinct to recognise when a product idea is viable and when it is not, before development resources are wasted pursuing an unachievable cost target
  • Strong project-management skills and high attention to detail — able to manage several products simultaneously and push projects through to completion without losing quality or schedule control
  • Strong aesthetic judgement and commercial instinct — equally comfortable discussing a colour palette, reviewing a jewellery sample, changing packaging dimensions, or questioning a supplier’s cost

Advantageous Skills

  • Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, or similar design software — valuable for concept presentation, mood board development, and supplier communication, but secondary to physical product development experience
  • Experience across multiple product categories — beauty/cosmetics, jewellery, fashion accessories, gifting, stationery, tween/teen products, or lifestyle consumer products

About This Opportunity — Products That Customers Actually Want to Buy

This Product Design & Development Manager role in Dubai is built for someone who thinks about product commercially and creatively at the same time — who walks into a store and automatically notices what’s new, why it’s selling, how it was made, and how it could be done differently. Across beauty, jewellery, accessories, gifting, and tween/teen lifestyle product categories, you will own the complete product lifecycle from the first idea through to production approval — working directly with the Founder/Managing Director, managing suppliers and factories across global manufacturing hubs, making commercial product decisions with real consequences for margin and brand quality, and building the kind of seasonal range that gives a growing Dubai consumer brand genuine competitive strength. We care more about what you have actually created and launched than any industry title on your CV. If you get things finished — and you get them finished well — this is the role for you.
