Position Overview
This Quality Assurance Specialist role in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia is a technically active and cross-functional food safety and quality position within a food manufacturing or FMCG operation. You will implement and monitor QA procedures and system controls, review CCP and OPRP monitoring logs and production records, support internal audits and risk assessments, investigate quality deviations and drive CAPA implementation, coordinate with Quality Control and Production teams to prevent quality and food safety issues, maintain quality documentation and inspection records, assist in customer complaint investigations, provide training and technical support to QA Inspectors, and support operational continuity through delegation and team coverage. The role is open to both professionals with existing food manufacturing QA experience and candidates with relevant educational backgrounds and at least one year of QA/QC or related experience who are building their career in food safety systems.
Why This Role Matters: As Quality Assurance Specialist at a food manufacturing company in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia — with HACCP, GMP, and ISO 22000 expertise and a commitment to food safety excellence — you will implement the quality assurance systems that protect food products consumed by Saudi families across the Kingdom, apply your food science knowledge and QA expertise in a cross-functional role that puts you at the operational heart of how food safety standards are maintained and improved, develop your career in food quality assurance through hands-on CAPA management, internal audit support, and QA Inspector training responsibilities, and build a specialised food manufacturing QA profile in Saudi Arabia’s rapidly growing and Vision 2030-driven food production sector where qualified food safety professionals are in genuine demand.
Key Responsibilities
QA Systems Implementation & Production Compliance Monitoring
- Implement and actively monitor quality assurance procedures, standards, and system controls across all food manufacturing operations — ensuring that QA controls are not just documented but genuinely functioning and consistently applied by production teams throughout every shift and production cycle
- Review production records, CCP (Critical Control Point) monitoring logs, and OPRP (Operational Prerequisite Programme) verification records systematically — confirming that all required monitoring activities have been completed, that results are within approved parameters, and that any out-of-limit results have been correctly flagged and addressed through defined corrective actions
- Monitor compliance with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice), HACCP principles, ISO 22000 requirements, and company quality procedures on a continuous basis — identifying compliance gaps early, communicating findings to the relevant production and quality teams, and supporting timely corrective action
- Coordinate actively with Quality Control and Production teams to identify emerging quality and food safety risks before they become non-conformances — building the kind of proactive, cross-functional relationship that prevents quality issues rather than just detecting them after the fact
Internal Audits, Risk Assessments & Regulatory Compliance
- Support the planning and execution of internal quality and food safety audits — participating in audit activities as an auditor or auditee, preparing audit documentation, collecting objective evidence, and contributing to accurate and well-structured audit reports that reflect the true compliance status of the manufacturing operation
- Assist in conducting food safety risk assessments — identifying hazards, evaluating risk levels, assessing the effectiveness of existing controls, and contributing to risk-based decision-making that prioritises the most significant food safety threats in the manufacturing environment
- Support regulatory compliance activities — ensuring that all food safety management system documentation, monitoring records, and corrective action records are current, accurate, and audit-ready for SFDA, ISO certification body, or customer audit inspection at any time
- Monitor changes in Saudi food safety regulations, SFDA requirements, and applicable international standards — flagging relevant updates to the QA Manager and supporting the timely updating of QA procedures and FSMS documentation to maintain continuous regulatory compliance
Quality Deviation Investigation & CAPA Management
- Investigate quality deviations, non-conformances, and food safety incidents identified during production monitoring, internal audits, product testing, or customer complaints — applying structured root cause analysis tools to identify the underlying cause rather than just describing the surface symptom
- Support the development, implementation, and follow-up of Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) — working with production and quality teams to define practical, evidence-based corrective measures that address root causes, verifying that actions are implemented within agreed timeframes, and confirming through effectiveness checks that the CAPA has achieved its intended outcome
- Assist in customer complaint investigations — gathering relevant production records, quality monitoring data, and physical samples, conducting root cause analysis in collaboration with the QA team, and supporting the preparation of professional, factual complaint response documentation that satisfies the customer and demonstrates genuine corrective commitment
- Maintain comprehensive CAPA records and deviation logs — ensuring full traceability of all quality deviations from detection through investigation, corrective action, and verified closure in a manner that supports regulatory compliance and continuous improvement decision-making
Quality Documentation & Records Management
- Prepare and maintain quality documentation, inspection records, monitoring forms, audit reports, and CAPA documentation to the highest standards of accuracy, completeness, and traceability — ensuring that every quality record created by the QA function is correctly identified, properly stored, and immediately retrievable for internal or external review
- Maintain the document control system for QA procedures, work instructions, and quality records — ensuring all documents are current, correctly version-controlled, and that superseded documents are promptly withdrawn from use to prevent the risk of outdated procedures being followed on the production floor
- Prepare quality performance reports for the QA Manager — compiling accurate, well-structured data on non-conformance rates, CAPA closure status, audit findings trends, complaint volumes, and other quality performance indicators that support management review and continuous improvement planning
QA Inspector Training & Team Technical Support
- Train QA Inspectors on quality assurance procedures, food safety standards, inspection techniques, and documentation requirements — delivering training that builds practical capability and not just procedural awareness, ensuring every inspector can apply what they learn consistently and correctly in their daily inspection activities
- Provide ongoing technical support and guidance to QA Inspectors during daily operations — answering questions on quality standards interpretation, supporting difficult inspection decisions, and ensuring that inspector outputs are accurate, consistent, and aligned with the FSMS requirements
- Support operational continuity by delegating QA responsibilities to qualified team members when required — ensuring that quality assurance activities continue without interruption during periods of increased workload, staff absence, or operational complexity, under the direction of the QA Manager
- Contribute to a positive, proactive quality culture across the manufacturing operation — supporting a working environment where quality and food safety are understood as shared responsibilities and where food safety concerns are reported openly and addressed constructively
Qualifications & Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a closely related field from a recognised accredited university — a mandatory educational requirement for this Quality Assurance Specialist role
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of experience in Quality Assurance, Quality Control, or a related role — providing the practical food industry context that makes the QA Specialist immediately effective in reviewing production records, investigating deviations, and supporting audit activities
- Experience in the food manufacturing or FMCG sector is preferred — candidates with direct food industry QA background will be prioritised given the specific food safety knowledge this environment requires
- Practical knowledge of GMP, HACCP, ISO 22000, and food safety management systems — applied understanding of how these standards function in a real production environment, not solely theoretical familiarity
- Familiarity with quality documentation systems, internal audit processes, and CAPA management — demonstrated through direct experience maintaining QA records, supporting audits, and managing corrective action workflows in a food or related manufacturing context
Skills
- Good English communication skills — both written and spoken — required for quality documentation preparation, audit report writing, customer complaint responses, and professional communication with internal teams and external stakeholders
- Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking — the core personal qualities that underpin every aspect of effective quality assurance work, from production record review and deviation investigation to data analysis and report preparation
- Problem-solving and decision-making ability — the capacity to analyse quality and food safety issues systematically, draw accurate conclusions from available evidence, and implement practical solutions in a manufacturing environment under time pressure
- Strong organisational skills and time management — managing multiple concurrent QA responsibilities including documentation, inspections, CAPA follow-ups, and training activities without compromising accuracy or missing critical compliance deadlines
