Position Overview
Syngenta’s Product Biology Team is hiring an R&D Specialist in Vero Beach, FL to support the design, execution, and management of laboratory, greenhouse, and field trials centered on soil and plant health products. You will collaborate closely with agricultural scientists at the Vero Beach Research Center, manage greenhouse operations, provide technical support for trial application equipment, develop demonstration trials for key stakeholders, and contribute to project planning, data collection, and comprehensive reporting across biological crop protection programs.

Key Responsibilities
Field, Greenhouse & Laboratory Trial Management
- Plan, coordinate, and support high-quality field, greenhouse, and laboratory trials to advance biological and plant health product research at the Vero Beach Research Center
- Oversee all greenhouse operations including irrigation, heating, and cooling systems to ensure reliable, consistent, and accurate trial results throughout the growing season
- Recommend and apply appropriate crop maintenance practices that support optimal trial success, plant health, and data integrity
- Contribute actively to trial setup, data collection, analysis, and professional reporting to support product development decisions
Technical Support & Equipment Management
- Provide hands-on technical support for trials including helping design, calibrate, and continuously improve application equipment used in field and greenhouse settings
- Utilize field research and laboratory equipment proficiently to execute trials safely and accurately according to research protocols
- Ensure all research tools and equipment are maintained in optimal working condition to support continuous research operations
- Apply strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to overcome technical challenges that arise during trial execution
Demonstration Trials & Stakeholder Engagement
- Develop and manage compelling demonstration trials that effectively showcase the commercial benefits of biological and plant health products to key stakeholders and site visitors
- Support site visits and presentations by preparing well-organized, visually impactful demonstration plots and data summaries
- Communicate research outcomes clearly and professionally to internal agricultural science teams and external stakeholders
- Contribute to project planning sessions, aligning trial execution timelines with broader product biology team goals and targets
Project Planning & Research Coordination
- Contribute to comprehensive project planning and execution — coordinating trial schedules, resource allocation, and data management across multiple concurrent research programs
- Manage multiple priorities simultaneously with strong organizational skills, ensuring all trials progress on schedule and meet quality standards
- Utilize digital tools including Excel, PowerPoint, SmartSheet, and ARM software to track, analyze, and report research data efficiently
- Work both independently and collaboratively with the agricultural science team in a dynamic, fast-paced research environment
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in agricultural science — agronomy, plant pathology, soil science, or a closely related field is strongly preferred
- Knowledge of biostimulants or plant health products is a meaningful plus and will strengthen your candidacy significantly
Experience Requirements
- M.S. degree or B.S. plus a minimum of three years of relevant hands-on experience in agricultural research, field trials, or laboratory science
- Demonstrated experience using field research equipment and laboratory instruments in an agricultural or biological research environment
- Comfort working in both field and greenhouse conditions, with the ability to travel up to 10% as required by research needs
Essential Skills
- Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple research projects simultaneously without compromising quality
- Proficiency with digital tools including Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, SmartSheet, and ARM for data management and professional reporting
