Position Overview
This Senior Engineer — Waveform (Layer 2) role designs and develops Layer 2 algorithms and protocols for secure wireless communication systems, develops and simulates MAC, LLC, routing, and scheduling protocols for MANET, builds and maintains network simulation models using tools such as OMNeT++ and NS-3, designs simulation scenarios covering mobility and traffic models, analyses protocol performance, develops logging and analysis tools for Layer 2 performance metrics, produces technical documentation and simulation reports, and collaborates with waveform architects, embedded software engineers, and cross-functional R&D teams throughout the development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
Layer 2 Protocol Design & MANET Development
- Design and develop Layer 2 algorithms and protocols for secure wireless communication systems
- Develop and simulate MAC, LLC, routing, and scheduling protocols for MANET (Mobile Ad Hoc Networks)
- Analyse protocol performance and optimise throughput, latency, reliability, and network efficiency
Simulation, Analysis & Documentation
- Build and maintain network simulation models using OMNeT++, NS-3, or similar simulation environments
- Design simulation scenarios covering mobility, traffic models, and network performance evaluation
- Develop logging and analysis tools to capture and evaluate key Layer 2 performance metrics
- Produce technical documentation, simulation reports, and performance analysis for engineering stakeholders
R&D Collaboration & Reviews
- Collaborate with waveform architects, embedded software engineers, and cross-functional R&D teams to integrate algorithms into secure communication platforms
- Participate in technical design reviews, code reviews, and troubleshooting activities throughout the development lifecycle
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or a related discipline
Experience Requirements
- 7+ years of experience developing or simulating Layer 2 protocols for wireless communication systems
- Strong understanding of wireless communication protocols including MAC, LLC, routing, and scheduling
- Experience developing or evaluating protocols for MANET, Wi-Fi, LTE, 4G, or 5G networks
- Strong programming experience with C++ and Python
- Experience using network simulation tools such as OMNeT++, NS-3, or equivalent
- Good understanding of wireless communication systems including Layer 2 and Physical Layer concepts
- Experience debugging, validating, and optimising wireless communication algorithms
- Willingness to relocate to Abu Dhabi — mandatory
